I haven't had time to look at my copy thoroughly, but I'll say now that it has the best cover of any of them to date. Gus Malzahn is on the cover.
They might not be on the racks for general sale yet, but my media copy came in the mail to me yesterday. I think this is the earliest that I've ever received it.
Eagles picked No. 3 in the 5A-Southeast coaches' poll and chart at No. 14 in the preseason Top 20. Both fair assertions, I think.

There is no way in the world that White Hall is the best team in this conference. IMO it's P. Academy, Crossett, Monticello, and then White Hall.

Robinson (not White Hall) is listed as first. PA is second, Crossett is third and White Hall is fourth.
This is according to the coaches' poll.
Also the Hootens have the Southeast listed as the weakest conference, and I just don't see that. Top-to-bottom it can't be any worse than second. And putting the Southwest ahead of it is just flipping crazy.

Heath, would you mind listing the coaches poll, the full one? Also could you list the top 20 for 5A? I have read the top 20 over on FF, but some ppl might not get on there. I would like to hear what some of the people on here think about the good ol' Hooten's rankings.

In the back of the Hooten's Arkansas Football Magazine it says that our football schedule consists of 3 straight away games and 7 straight home games? Also, my name is spelled wrong in there under the offense paragraph i'm Demarious Sams not Jamario Sams but I am starting at Right Guard. Ok back to the whole schedule thing. I'm gonna be a junior and this is nice all the home games and all but, My senior year were going to have 3 straight home games and 7 straight away if i'm correct. What do ya'll think of this?

What do ya'll think of this? I don't think it's accurate, based on the schedule that I've seen. It should be five home and five away as always. Check the sticky thread called "2006 football schedule." (The junior-high schedule IS gimpy; redistricting screwed the junior-high schedule up. Only eight games this year and two of them are against the same opponent.) However, I'm not surprised that it's wrong. At least from Crossett's perspective this is the most jacked-up, ill-informed Hooten's that I've ever seen before. It's so bad in fact that I'm not even going to "tease" for it in our newspaper as I normally do. Crossett's not in the top 10 and is picked third by the coaches anyway, and there aren't any Ashley County players on the preseason Super Teams, so there isn't much news value to it as far as I'm concerned. If the info about Crossett is that off (for instance, right there in the lead it says that the Eagles didn't switch to the Spread until after the fourth game of the season--when in fact they didn't line up in anything but the Spread all year long), I don't trust it for information about any other teams, either. It's worthless as a source if it's that off-base. Disagreeable opinion is one thing, but poor fact-checking is something else. The boys need to drop all of that college coverage blarney (particularly the Razorbacks...I don't know a soul who has bought or ever will by Hooten's for Razorbacks coverage) and get back to the bread-and-butter of high school coverage. That has got to be what they spend their time on. I've been saying that for at least five years. They're shooting themselves in the foot with all of the crap in the front of the book. And the astronomical cover price, which has climbed to $16 this year, is turning a lot of people off, too. We'll probably continue to take the Rankings in the fall because they've actually improved over time, but the book, in my opinion, sags every single year.

This is what Eddie was talking about with White Hall. Absolutely nuts to have WH in the top 10, as the only team from the Southeast.
PA should be in the top five and Robinson probably should be in the top 10. White Hall shouldnt' even be as high as Crossett. Look at the returning starters!!!

Well maybe u right emily. I can't look again cause i let someone see it. But i was told by Coach Lenderman that Magnolia is going to be played at Magnolia since the track won't be ready in time. Also Coach Lenderman told me that our scrimmage against Lake Village on August 24th will be played at their house instead of ours cause of the track.

Might also affect the junior-high schedule, especially since either five or six of the games are to be played at home.
