The 9 yr. old allstars suffered an injury today during practice when Jordan Sivils was hit by a baseball in the eye while playing first base. The injury is fairly severe and he has been advised not to play any more baseball at this time. We are uncertain as to whether he will be released to play ball in time for the 9 yr. old tournament on July 7. This is terrible news for Jordan, his family and his team. As manager of the 9yr old team I would ask that those of you who know Jordan or his mother Jennifer or his father Chris that you take a moment to pray for his speedy anc complete recovery.
I know that all of you who play ball or who have children playing ball understand that injuries are part of the game but they are usually mild in nature. Severe injuries are few and far between, this is little consolation when the few and far happens to be one of yours.
Jordan, our thoughts and prayers are with you, we expect you to be back soon and we are looking forward to seeing you playing on your team.
Michael D. Ray Manager Crossett 9 yr. old allstars

I talked to Jordan's dad this afternoon and he said they have a appointment in the morning with an eye specialist for a second opinion. Let's just hope they say don't play for a week or so. Jordan is like a son to me and I hate to see him going thru this and I just hope and pray it's not as serious as it sounds

I knwo many of you have been to the games and listened to the kids chanting in the dug outs. They seem to be saying the same thing over and over so at 5:00 this morning with nothing better to do I got up and wrote what I would sing if I were 9 yrs. old and sitting in the dugout with the Crossett 9 yr. old all stars.
SOUND OFF 1, 2,
SOUND OFF 3, 4,
BRING IT ON DOWN
1,2,3,4, 1,2, 3,4
Listen now to what we say
The Crossett Eagles are here to play
I know that we look real small,
But when we play were ten feet tall,
You may think there is no way
That these little guys can even play
But David didn’t look like much
Till Goliath bit the dust
SOUND OFF 1, 2,
SOUND OFF 3, 4,
BRING IT ON DOWN
1,2,3,4, 1,2, 3,4
You may think your big and strong
But you should listen to our song
The walls of Jericho were also tall
Till they took a mighty fall,
We love to run and laugh all day
We love to sing and we love to play
But what we love the most of all
Is when were playing Baseball.
SOUND OFF 1, 2,
SOUND OFF 3, 4,
BRING IT ON DOWN
1,2,3,4, 1,2, 3,4
We like you yes we really do
And we hope you like us to
But we have to win today
Or our coach won’t let us play
You see our coach he is so mean
He will run us till were green
So if you will please pardon us
Were going to pound you into dust
SOUND OFF 1, 2,
SOUND OFF 3, 4,
BRING IT ON DOWN
1,2,3,4, 1,2, 3,4
Now hustle boys and do your best
Cause Crossett Eagles never rest
Our pitcher he is throwing smoke
Now you know were not a joke
And our defense is the best
Better than all the rest
And we can really hit the ball,
Better back your boys up to the wall,
Now my song it is all done
And the Ball Game we have won
The Crossett 9’s can not wait
Cause we are going to win State.

(p.s. this is what happens when i have to much time on my hands and any way you look at it, this sure beats "Pitchers' got a wedgieee, go wedgiee go wedgiee go." Which frankly I have heard way to much lately. )

That sure was good news to hear

In reply to the question what happend to Jordan Sivils, he was playing 1st base. A ball was hit sharply to the 2nd baseman, Drewby Ray who threw it to first. The throw went right by Jordan's glove and struck him directly below the right eye. The impact caused bleeding around the lower portion of the eye, blurred vision and substantial pain. Jordan was examined by two eye physicians and is supposed to have an appointment today to see about his progress. We are all hopefull that it will be a good report. According to the coaches on the field the throw was from about 20 feet and was not a "hard" throw, but the point of impact was right at or below the eye. The bleeding around the eye has stopped and we think that there will be no vision loss as a result. Last year Jordan took a blow to the same eye while playing as an 8 yr. old all star that resulted in 5 stitches.
As for the 9 yr. olds, they played 5 games in Monticello beating Star City on Friday with a rally in the 5th inning to come from behind. They then beat Hamburg and Bryant on Saturday. Rain delayed the games Sunday causing the 9's to have to play back to back games, first against a very good Monticello Team which we won 4-2 in the 6th inning and then with Pine Bluff Seabrook. It is notable that no one, not even the Seabrook coaches questioned the issue that Crossett had the better ball club. However Seabrook had a very long rest in between the games and we did not and after jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the second inning a series of errors caused largely by fatigue broke the game open. The boys played their hearts out, never quit and we are very proud of them for a hard won 2nd place finish.
