Has anyone gotten to check out the new track? I was down there today and it looks awesome. Work is going well on the girls dressing room also. Just need a top on the band shelter.

I was impressed with the whole layout when I was there today. I enjoy track and field and I'm really looking forward to covering some real meets in Crossett! Finally! I think it's been since 1999 since a sanctioned regular-season meet has been held here...somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't expect to see a top on the bandshell. I don't think they plan on putting one on it. From what I was told, the band dept. doesn't want one on it.

Is the rubber compound layed down yet? If so, is it maroon like the background on this website or what?

Is the rubber compound layed down yet? If so, is it maroon like the background on this website or what? It's red. The reason they didn't put down a maroon track is that they were told by the company that produces the surface that mixed colors fade quickly. They said that a maroon track would fade to pink in a matter of only a couple years. The primary red color will stay red a lot longer.

El Dorado has a lavendar-colored track. Could be that this track originally was a darker purple (El Dorado's school colors) and it had faded over time. So it really might not have been a bad idea not to try the color thing.
At any rate it looks good. Now if they'd just build another gate on the home side.

If the actual track is the same as the High jump area, it is not all that "spongy". It is much better than what we had, but it is not quite as soft as I would have thought it would be.

Cost concerns just dictate that it not be a priority at this time. While it has not been discussed, it may or may not come up in the future. I would say that with wet weather that comes out of the North in the late fall games, a top wouldn't help that much with the stand where it is. The kids seem to like being "home". It is my understanding that at some time walkers will be able to get on the track, but accessibility is going to be limited to keep wheeled vehicles off the track (bikes, trikes, and the like).

To add a little flavor to the improvements....the Eagle booster club will be putting maroon Crossett Eagle flags on each of the new fence posts on the home side. Check it out.

Where in the heck is the homecoming court going to sit this year? The extra area on the sidelines is gone.

I believe that there are eight or fewer seniors on the roster. Turner, R. Williams, Cockerham, Doss. Who else?
With the recent tinkering of the lineups I'm not sure how many sophs and juniors. Eddie probably could tell you.

I'm curious to know this, too. I've never really thought about how few seniors we have starting this year.
