This quote gave me chills and I thought that it was fitting for this week. I shared it with T and he thought so too. What do you think?
"Never give up, never give in, and when the upper hand is ours, may we have the ability to handle the win with the dignity that we absorbed the loss." Doug Williams

Sounds good..do you think he'll relay that to the players? It has a great message to it...I know a lot of players (not Eagles, just players I've seen from other places this season) really need to hear that, and think about it.

I think he will...I wish I could share what he e-mailed me back, but I don't think he would want that broadcast. He is a great guy, coach, teacher, and administrator. He would make a fantastic principal, but he would have to give up coaching and I know that is his first love.

Yeah. I've always wondered why no coaches post on this board, lol. Is there any particular reason, or do they just stay too busy with coaching?

Wouldn't be wise for either coaches or players to post here. Verrrrrry few coaches post openly on message boards. On Fearless I know of just one head coach who posts and that's Kevin Kelley from Pulaski Academy. He's actually one of the mods.
You expose yourself to direct attack if you're on the boards, plus you invite a lot of criticism from people who think that you're paying too much attention to what the armchair quarterbacks have to say.
If you're a coach you really can't listen to all of the chatter. In my opinion that's a dead-end street. You have to do what you think is right and then let the chips fall where they may.
It's also important to understand though that the chatter is going to be there and that there is nothing that you can do about it. It's a side-effect of interest in the program and if you don't want anyone to offer up their opinions, then don't sell tickets to the games and don't accept a salary.
I found it very interesting that Frank Broyles said this week that coaches SHOULD read the message boards. In fact I'll go a step further and say that I am shocked.

Great quote by Doug Williams....thanks for sharing that with us chsteacher. When reading the latest edition of Sports Illustrated.....there was an ad for Mike Krzyzewski's new book called BEYOND BASKETBALL-Coach K's Keywords for Success. You can read excerpts online at www.hbgusa.com. One that caught my attention - On Trust: "There are four words that, when said, will bring out the best in our team, your employees, and your family. They are: I believe in you."

Yeah, Frank Broyles saying that is what made me wonder about it. Does PA's coach not take shots on FF?

Yeah, Frank Broyles saying that is what made me wonder about it. Does PA's coach not take shots on FF? Not that much, but PA is a very successful an very classy program. About the only thing that I ever see PA get targeted about is recruiting players. And usually Kelley stays out of that argument completely. Coach DePriest is an assistant and he normally is the one who responds to those allegations.
