You would have the think that Carpenter, Ledford and Johnson would stand out in that group of coaches? Sirl Wright? name sounds familiar. Anyone know any info on him?

Where can I find info on his teams records for the past few years? I did a little research on the out of state candidates earlier today. I didn't do any on Sirl Wright because I knew who he was. Eric Middleton was a high quality candidate. Minden got a good coach yesterday. Ron Dupree is a head coach at Andrews HS in NC. They have won eight games this decade. None this past season. Douglas Means is at Woodland High School in Stockbridge, Ga. He is the OL line coach. Here is his bio from the school website:

So we have all the applicants- is the CPSD still just debating on who is the best choice, or are they waiting on something in particular?

this hire here will let us know about our school board if they hire Davis or Todd they will be looking out for our school and not friendships.I heard 2 assistant was leaving and if this is true I think Sirl should apply for one.

I don't know for sure that any assistants are leaving ,but I think Sirl would be a great addition to the coaching staff.

Who this Davis you see me to think will be so good for the school? you have called him Davis on 2 different posts.....Is someone that comes to town for a few years and then leaves for a bigger school best for our system, or would someone be better that wants to stay and be a part of our community and have children that will be in the system best?.....everyone talks about GP bringing in out of towners and letting the good folks of Crossett leave for other areas.....it seems like CSD is willing to do the same....

The thing about GJ is, that I understand he was not even interested in the job until he found out that they wanted him out at Hamburg. I am all for the him getting the job, if he is the best qualified of the applicants.

The school board does not carry as much weight here as you suggest. The board goes on recommendations from the committee and only one board member is on the committee. The board does legally do the hiring, but they do not interview at all, so the suggestions that the board would hire friends holds no merit.

JWH is correct, it is all up to the 5 person committe.....and 3 of the 5 are not friends with anyone that is a coach....the only 2 I would consider being a friend to anyone would be Coach T and Coach Lenderman....and these guys are friends with everyone no matter who or what you are.....So friendship/politics that everyone talks about....well you can throw it out the window....

I suppose the board could pull a U of A and tell the search committee, "Try Again.", if they didn't like the recommendation. Didn't think I'd ever see that happen till Ark did it with Grobe. I seriously doubt that would ever happen in this case, but the possibility would be there. One way or another, this all will be resolved in 11 or 12 days .

It is very possible that the school board may see something that the committee missed, and does not except there recommendation....I see nothing wrong with what the UA Board did....in the end I think you and everyone else in AR was Happy with the hire.....Just because the board feels different does not make things wrong, it just means that maybe the board is looking out for the entire community and not just a position with the CSD.
