The old track has been torn up and removed and the band shell has been moved as of today. Here's hoping that the weather stays dry so they can get a lot of that stuff done soon.

The new band area is being built. It is just to the right (from the perspective of looking from the stands at the field) of the current stands. It's not as high as the old one, but appears to be as large. I can't tell if it is from all new material or if they are using some of the seating from the old shell, but it really is not important to me. You cannot get into the field at this time to look closely.

I just drove by the field, it looks so weird to see the band stand on the home side. The visitors side looks so empty now...lol

what's the latest on the track construction? And have they decided where the Magnolia game will be played?

The Magnolia game will be played at the Hamburg football field I believe. Hamburg's team will be playing an away game at Monticello (I think) that week.

They're saying now ("they" being everyone associated with the athletic department and administration) that the game WILL be played at Yarborough Field. Track base surface is supposed to be poured on Aug. 14 and allegedly will be OK for walking traffic basically immediately.

So I guess that means they are getting ahead of schedule maybe, that's good to hear. I'm ready to attend the first game with the new track and band stands. I heard the track will be maroon, is that true? Or will it just be another black one?

So I guess I heard the track will be maroon, is that true? Or will it just be another black one? I've been told that it will be maroon. But what you're going to see during football season is going to be only the substructure, which will be black asphalt. The top coat wont' be poured until after football season.

Oh, well that kinda sucks. Oh well, I guess the track isn't really for the football team, lol.

It will actually be better for them to wait to lay the top coat. Football cleats damage the soft surface of a fresh track. Also the foot traffic from football fans can damage the surface as well.

Yeah, I suppose that's their reason for waiting huh? Now all they have to do is get the bleachers replaced with folding seats and cupholders, and I'll be happy with it for another 2-3 months, lol
