From member faithfuleaglefan:
Don't really know if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know who made Homecoming Court. I've seen Hamburg court for 2 weeks now in both local papers, but haven't heard anything about Crossett's court. I'm sure it will be in this week's ANO, but I really don't want to wait.

Clairece Atkins, Chasity Presley, Erica Brewer, Brittani Jackson, Brooke Davis, Lauren Babb, Kayla Higginbotham, Jenni Coody, Juli Grant. I think that's it. Maybe Juli07 will pop in here and remind me if I'm missing someone.

I take it the winner will be announced at the assembly Friday? I liked it theway they used to do it better.

Queen will be announced on Friday afternoon at the assembly before the student body. How was it done in the past?
I'm not into the surprise crowning thing in front of a big crowd. Some of those girls place a undue amount of importance on that stuff and are liable to have a break down or something if they don't get queen.

You are correct. The assembly when we knew it was to honor the Queen and her court. Not all new things are improvements that's for sure.

We knew a couple weeks in advance who the Queen was when Eddie and I were in school. All the maids would walk in arm in arm with 2 football players each and occasionally a track star or 2. The Queen would be escorted by the captains. If I recall correctly all female seniors were placed on a ballot and each Sr. voted for 10 girls. Top vote getter was queen and the next 9 were her maids.

You guys do know that they had to re-vote this year, right? Some kind of snafu kept a few of the senior girls off of the original nomination ballot. It wasn't discovered until after the court had been announced.

I'm kind of confused on how the voting is done here. The student body nominates and the senior class votes? Or the senior class nominates and the football team votes? Every school does is slightly differently. At my high school the entire student body both nominated and voted, and we had a black maid and a white maid from each class nine through 12, plus the queen from the senior class. We also had a really weird "traditional kiss." The queen selected her own escorts, I think three of them, and of the three one of them was like the "No. 1" escort. At the homecoming assembly he gave the queen a bouquet of roses and a kiss. And it wasn't just a cheek-peck like I saw at Hamburg on Friday. It was a toe-curling, open-mouthed slobberfest like something off of a daytime soap opera. Way above and beyond anything that I've seen even at weddings. It always surprised me that it was so brazen and provocative. Nobody ever seemed to get offended by it. And I know all of you are asking yourselves this question and the answer is no, I never was that lucky escort.

The way it was done in the past is that, as Outlaw said, the whole SR class was on the ballot and we all voted for 10 girls. Then the football team voted for the queen from among the 10.

In talking to EalgesVoice...it is our understanding, there will be an appearance of Pedro and Napolean at the homecoming assembly. Pedro is to announce his running for class president. That should be interesting.

Does Crossett have a homecoming parade honoring the homecoming Queen and her court with the school bands and floats similiar to the festivities that takes place in Hamburg?

It will begin at 1:30 on Friday.
Voting was done twice by the senior class. The first vote was taken to get the top ten and then seniors voted again for the queen. It is my understanding that next year only one vote will be taken.
I can't ever remember there being a parade as far as 1991. Before that...who knows? Outlaw, you've been around awhile...maybe you can answer that question??? LOL ;D

never heard of a parade before so if they are not allowing people on the track where are the cheerleaders going to be at Cheerleaders and Eaglettes will still be on the track. The track is now the only approved surface for the cheerleaders to do tosses other than the grass. They won't be able to do them in the gym during basketball season either.

There are many things that other schools have, and Crossett doesn't.
