Rumor on Rivals is that Nutt's agent has already been in contact with OK State. Malzahn will not be hired as the head coach at Arkansas. The inside info has Tuberville(everything not so rosey in Auburnville), Pittsburgh Panther coach Dave Wanstadt(spelling?), Butch Davis(supposed buy clause in his NC contract if Hog job becomes available), Kragthorpe at Tulsa and Jimmy Johnson as the leading candidates. Go to the Baylor website - I've heard they are interested in him

Well i predicted he would leave back in September now I'll make a new prediction. I have a gut feeling that Herring may possibly be named the new head coach. I may be totally off but he is not one of the 5 assistants Nutt has offered a job too at Ole Miss. Reggie has abundant support from key boosters and many fans. Although Tubervilles name is at the top of the list, sources say that everything posted about him and the job are purely speculation. Arkansas has not been in contact with either him or his agent. There is a name that has surfaced but has not been released at this time. All i can say about him is he comes from a pretty solid program. Look for both Tuberville and Saban's names to be connected to the LSU job in the next few days.

Herring wasn't offered to go to Ole Miss probably because Ole Miss can't afford him. He's one of the highest-paid assistants in the nation.
I can't see that it will be Herring. Too many ties to the U of A. The search is to find people who are not connected to the current athletic department in any way.
Of course they may find themselves painted into a corner where he's the best candidate, which obviously would be bad.

I tell ya, Mike Leach at Texas Tech keeps coming up amd if thjis happens it will be really hard to watch that circus next season. Tech threw 72 passes against Oklahoma couple weeks ago. We do not need that!

He get's paid less than David Lee and he's going with Nutt. Herring's salary is $325,000 a year and Lee's is $500,000. If they can't afford Herring then how can they afford Lee?

If they can't afford Herring then how can they afford Lee? I haven't heard those figures, I'm just going on what has been reported. But the most obvious reason would be that they could afford one or the other, but not both, and for whatever reason Lee is the one who Nutt chose. Herring also might think that he's ready to be a head coach. And maybe he is, but it won't be at Arkansas.

He has 3 year guarenteed deal.
