I have watched, in particular, two eagles grow into dominite athletes; it brings a smile to my face that I had something to do with it. Jeffrey Doss came to 10th grade around 160 - 180 pounds, scared to death, but he had heart, God, he had heart. I must have ran him over, and picked him up and dropped him on his head so many times it's not even funny, but he always got right back in there never gave up. Now he is standing out, a leader on the field, doing the same thing I did to him. To every one he has made so proud, I am call him my brother . Kyle C-ham moved from Hamburg his 10th grade year. Kyle was very small and not very strong. I still remember him getting his skull crushed every day on the scout team over and over but he always got right back in there. Last year he got really upset when he was bumped from his starting position to GB and he almost quit but he didn't take the easy way out, he stayed and went to practice knowing GB was playing the position that he deserved to be playing himself. Watching Kyle play tonight I am so proud to have had him as a teammate . After the game I saw Jeffery first and I just couldn't help remember the little 10th grade boy going out there against the giants (compared to him), I gave him a hug and let him know just how proud I was of him and how far he has come. Then I saw Kyle with the tears rolling down his face unable to catch his breath telling me that he just didn't do good enough, saying if he just could have caught that pass or stopped that run. I put my arms around him and told him that nobody could or should ask any more of him. He did what athletes should do, left his heart on the field. He has grown into everything I knew he could be. I hate it for these boys that they never did get to beat Hamburg any of their three high school years. I just wanted to post and let them know how proud I am, of the athletes they have turned out to be.
