Let me clarify why I say that. I am proud of the players and coaches and support them 100%. After West Helena score with 10:30 left in the fourth quarter, the fans of this team QUIT. The whole third quarter the Crossett offense answered the Cougers and at that point the game WAS NOT OVER. It was one of the most disrespectful displays I have ever witnessed. These guys were playing hard and you quit on them. You owe them more than that.
I am a Crossett Eagle supporter. It's a shame there aren't more.
The hit dog will bark loudest. All I can say is, deal with it. The truth hurts.

Eddie, What happened. I didnt get a chance to listen after halftime. What did the score end up being? Sounds bad if stands emptied.

There was plenty time to make a game of it. Crossett was moving the ball and were still playing as hard as they could and this crowd left. Anytime more than five minutes is absolutely disrespectful to the players.

i really thought the way they were moving the ball that they could score enough to pull it out....i think they tried really hard.....however tackling seemed to be a issue for them....

I would agree....but as everyone know a lot of people especially students go for socializing....if you were to collect all the true hard core fans up into one group, we might fill the band section of the bleachers......

Don't get me started on that. I am glad the administration has finally made the students sit down during the game.

There certainly were enough reminders from the press box. I'm glad that the administration is finally trying to do something about it.

Not sure about the Sr. High dance but the Jr. High dance started at 9pm. I know alot of kids and parents left for that. My kids did.

If that started at 9pm, that's the second most disrespectful thing that went on during the night. You don't start a dance before the game is over.

I agree with all said and I wanted to add a comment about kids sitting. Something needs to be done about the number of little kids just running around like little wild heathrens (sp?). Where are their parents? PS How pathetic am I? I just left my reunion at the CC to come home to my computer!

I, have 2 things I would like to give my "Two Cents Worth" on.The first thing is about all the fans leaving. It was great to see the bleachers filled for "HomeComing". I thought we would really make some noise for those boys playing. Nope, it did'nt happen and then when they all started leaving it was even disruptive to the rest of us trying to look over them out on the field. I, even made the comment to our bunch, "Well, it looks like all that is left here is Moms & Dads and Grandparents." 2nd thing---Socializing, have you tried to get to the restrooms and all those kids are standing visiting on the sidewalk, you say "Excuse Me" they just look at you and stand steadfast, not moving an inch. We have to go out around them and back on the sidewalk. Also, Ladies tell me if I'm wrong----You have your purse on your shoulder your meeting usually a young man (has been girls too) they run into your shoulder almost turning me around your purse falls to your elbow and do you think they will say "Excuse Me". I classify their actions as pure "Rudeness." They need to stand out to the side and visit, let us use the sidewalk for the purpose it was made "Walking ."

All of the same thigns that I've been complaining about for years. Finally something is being done about it. But the problem didn't get this way overnight, and it's going to take probably a solid year or more of hardlining before people get the picture. There might have to be some people thrown out for being disruptive. So be it.

Eddie, I'd like to add to your original post. It is very upsetting to see the stands empty out so early in the game. But it is also upsetting to hear all the negative talk around town about our team. It seems like when they are winning EVERYONE is the most loyal and dedicated fan ever, but let them have a bad season and everyone abandons them. I realize that we have a very young team, only 8 seniors. Most of our seniors have really stepped up into leadership positions this year and I'm proud of them for that. We've got to think about the fact that these are just kids, from 15-18 years old. It is very easy for them to be uplifted by an energetic crowd or down-graded by the stands emptying. I am proud of this group of kids - as proud as I would be if they were 6-0. They are fine young men and are having to take each loss - a whole lot harder than we take it - and get up and carry on for the next week. They have not given up and they continue to play with heart and might and I have a lot of respect for each of them. Don't know about the rest of them, but I have one that takes it personal if anyone says anything negative about a team member or a coach. So let's not give up on them. Let's stand behind our young men and let them know that we are proud of them for the effort they put forth. And when things turn around (and we know they will), all those that have abandoned this team once again will be the ones that have always been "the most loyal fans ever".

I can honestly feel for you true fans of Crossett. We went through the same thing the past 2 seasons in Dumas. Ive enjoyed doing the radio for the past 3 yrs for Dumas football and as bad as I hate to say it have seen some pretty terrible football played and coached, but one thing you do not do is give up on kids. I guess fans are like this everywhere. Its ashame that people quit coming and supporting kids just because of a win/loss record. I see people bouncing around Dumas this year with their purple on and claiming to be big Dumas fans, guess where those same people were last year when Dumas was 0-10. I made several pleas to people listening to the radio last years to come to the games and support the kids. Real fans will be there...come heck or high water. The others...well everyone knows who they are. Good Luck the rest of the Year and keep supporting those Kids..Good or Bad. Just know you are not alone in this...

Both this year and last I have been disappointed that the homecoming dance starts before the game is even over. What's up with that? The players, cheerleaders, eaglettes and band members don't get to make it to the dance until late because by the time the game is over and they get cleaned up and ready, it's 10:30-11:00 before they get to the dance, then it's over at 12:00. My feeling is that the dance should start after the game and maybe extend the end time of the dance so that the players, band, etc. can enjoy some of it.
