Osceola Started the first five games 1-4 (0-2) in conference play until defeated previously undefeated Gosnell 16-8 and then defeating previously undefeated conference contender Trumann now 5-2 (3-1) Osceola is now 3-4 (2-2) and is looking for a playoff birth in the playoffs. What do you guys think?

What do you need to qualify for the playoffs, 6 wins? If so, there's definitely a shot.
The thing about high school sports is that most 'good' teams don't even give 'bad' teams a second thought, other than "this game will be no problem". If this is why they upset Gosnell, then it depends on how the rest of the schedule is set up. If they came out ready to play and just got beat, then you should make the playoffs. It also depends on who Gosnell was undefeated against though. Good luck to ya

What do you need to qualify for the playoffs, 6 wins? In high school it's done solely by where you finish in the conference. In Class 4A this year the top four teams in each conference make it in and a fifth in some cases (it's a weird arrangement now, which this 48-team classification).

Actually it's fewer teams than it used to be. Used to be 64. But there used to be eight conferences and the top four finishers from each conference would make it into the playoffs (like it is in 5A now, except with half the number of teams because there are half that number of conferences). With the reclassification there are just six conferences. Taking four from each leaves you with 24 teams and that won't work out right in a standard tournament-style bracket. So the AAA decided to use a 26-team bracket, set up like the old 32-team bracket but giving byes in the first round to all six of the conference winners, and allowing five playoff teams from two of the conferences each year on a rotating basis.
It's dumb, I think, but that's what they've got.

Good luck to ya The thing about the Gosnell game is and every knows this, if you play the same team for 4-5 years in a roll and they run the same offense (Wing-T) then you know what the expect, Gosnell prior to us played teams like Newport, Nettleton, Valley View, Jonesboro-Westside and Earle who really havent played Gosnell (Well excluding Jboro-Westside, but every knows they're horrible anyways) but the teams like Earle, Newport, Nettleton, and Valley View really haven't played against a Wing-T offense and I don't know if you guys will agree with me or not but if never have played against a successful Wing-T Offense then it's hard to maintain them. But yeah, Osceola's schedule is a breeze for the next two weeks as we head to Jonesboro Back to back weeks to play the Westside Warriors and the Valley View blazers, and then it's Rivalry time as the Rivercrest Colts travel 2 miles north to Seminole Territory and we're goingggg to gettt itttttt onnnn big time baby!

so then yall can still make it in teh playoffs?? Maybe, like I said Westside's a breeze to pass, our sophomore's will have plenty of playing time friday, Valley View's been known to give good teams trouble such as Pocahontas and Trumann, and Rivercrest will be the biggest threat, even though their only 1-6 they will always play us hard due to our deep rivalry of Southern Mississippi County
