I heard that the basketball team had their first team practice with the football players added! They should be pretty good. Word is that they can run 10-12 players....They should be a surprise in the conference this season

Going to be hard to replace Jeremy Evans. If they are deep maybe the Eagles make a good run and return to the playoffs. The conference should be pretty strong again.

The conference is going to be twice as strong as last year.

Loosing Edwards to Dollarway hurts. The conference schedule is going to be BRUTAL. .500 in conference is going to be a feat.

This is my question....Not to down the football team b/c personally I feel they just had a young team....but why is basketball the down sport? Many boys on team feel that if they can play together they can have a Magical season! The football team was predicted to make the playoffs and they won one game! Why can't the basketball team get the same support! Evans didn't score every point last season

I have noticed that also....My opinion is that until you know what team has...Don't say anything that can discourage them! The athletes check this sight frequently to see what the town thinks of their teams

I don't see where anyone has said anything discouraging or negative. No one can dispute that replacing a player like Evans will be hard. No one can disoute that the conference will be stonger than ever. Perhaps even the strongest 5A conference. We learned that in football. The realignment of the conferences brought in some good teams. PA will not be a pushover. I'm sure Robinson will very competitive also. Not sure about McClellan.

Because of football and other obligations, I haven't had a chance to see any basketball at all yet. Since football is officially over in Ashley County, I'll be in the gym soon.
I would expect Tuesday to be a typical first regular-season game: ugly. But this season I expect Crossett's back court to be better than it's been in about the last five years. Front court obviously is going to be down compared to the last two seasons.

why do you say the back court will be down this year.what do they have in the back court that's different I said that the FRONT court will be down. The back court will be much better. You lost the best player in Crossett history out of the front court, that's why. And you're picking up the first legitimately-talented point guard since 2000 in the back court in Dominic Lincoln. |
