I was told by a parent the other day that it would be starting in the next week or so. Last year it seems like it was 2 or 3 weeks into school before they got started. You might want to contact Coach Herron.

I was wondering the same thing, so I called the school yesterday and they said yes there would be 7th grade football. I was told that Coach Herron had been out and was now back. Coach Lawson told my son that there would be football, but he didn't know when practice would start.

For those boys that didn't get a letter at school, there will be a meeting for 7th grade football Sunday, September 16th at 2:00 in the Norman Junior High Gymn. We need everyone there that wants to play so there will be enough and they will pass out equipment.

The Strong kids are a combination of 7,8,9th grades and have been playing since school started.

Why was it just our 7th grade vs. their whole Jr. High? I don't understand...it really would be great for Arkansas football as a whole if we could get our kids started in football in the 2nd or 3rd grade. I really think that's the only difference between us and those about an hour south.

The final score was 44-0 ..........and yes it was Strong using not only their 7th grades but also their 8th and 9th graders to show up our kids. I think the School board needs to look at this and realize that we need to put in place a 7th grade program that is looked at just like the other school programs that are in place. I couldn't believe that we even went over to Strong after knowing that they would be playing against 8th and 9 th graders. I was also told the same thing happened last year when they played in Strong

It was pretty bad....I was told by someone that went to school there that there was 1-7th grader, 2-8th graders and the rest were 9th graders, and they were some huge boys. I dont understand why we had to play all of the jr. high myself...does hamburg, monticello, el dorado or anyone else just have a 7th grade team or is this the way it will be for the 7th graders this entire season? Some of those boys over there looked big enough to be playing on the high school team here and that is no exaggeration.

Hamburg has a 7th grade team of only 7th graders. We play most of them, if not all of them, before a scheduled Jr. High game on Thursday nights. They are pretty fun to watch. We have also started a younger bunch of kids playing in full pads, don't know too much about them or exactly what ages, (looks to be 4-6 graders) but I have seen them practicing.

Monticello and El Dorado both have 7th grade schedules on their school district websites. And since Camden, Magnolia, Drew Central and Fordyce are listed as teams they are playing, it appears those schools have 7th grade football programs as well.

Crossett has never had a set schedule for 7th grade. They generally play in jamborees that feature several teams. Most of which come from smaller schools. Last year they played in Strong, Parkers chapel and Harmony Grove. At these jamborees you usually play 2 or 3 different teams. Most of the schools will be like Strong, a combination of 7th ,8th and sometimes 9th graders.

I guess it's possible tlhat playing against such a high level of competition could help our guys improve, but I still feel bad for them...hope they are having fun though. What's the youngest that kids in Crossett get in pads and get to play football, 5th grade?

Wow, I had no idea that kids in Crossett could get into a helmet and pads at that age. Do you think it will make our teams better overall when these 3rd graders, who will have played for 7 years already, get to high school?

It might help but you have to remember these kids are playing through the boys and girls club....maybe if the school had something to do with it, or the elementary pe teachers for example had something to do with it, it might help them be better prepared, however, I dont see that it can hurt anything, and those guys play real hard too...
