Crossett vs. LR Mills: Hootens.com has Crossett at #12 in the state right now, and LR Mills at #22, so I definitely think we have a good shot at beating them this weekend. Thoughts? please share. Crossett vs. Pulaski Academy: I'm having some friends come up from ULM to this game with me probably, so do you guys think we have a legitimate shot at these guys? I know PB Dollarway beat them a couple of weeks ago, but can we? What would our strategy be on Cruz Williams? Maybe play Rodney Brown man-to-man on him, and have a safety helping out over the top at all times, or is there something else we may do to slow him down? thanks for any thoughts or opinions guys

I think u have Cruz Williams and Joe Adams confused. Joe plays for CAC and Cruz plays for Pulaski Academy, but both are similar receivers. I think Crossett has to control the ball on offense. They have to keep PA's offense off the field (If they don't have it, they can't score). The defensive line has to get pressure on the quarter back also and the secondary has to play the game of their life. Note: Hootens.com stated that White Hall trailed Pulaski Academy 26-21 in the 3rd quarter before giving up 16 in the 4th quarter. It never means much in high school football but that is something to keep in mind.

Mills, new coach and new system at a school with no football tradition. The one thing working in Mills' favor is that it is playing at home. Mills is similiar to Helena-West Helena Central at home...maybe not quite to that extent but close. The Comets gave Crossett the toughest road test of the entire regular season in 2003, but that was before the Southeast began assigning officials and that makes a difference. It's going to take more stategy than just blitzing the quarterback on every down. PA's offensive line and quarterback are too good for that to be effective. PA also has seen a ton of ball-control offenses. Few of them have won. I'm convinced that the key to beating a really good Spread team doesn't lie in trying to keep the score down but in keeping the score high and getting the ball last. You can try ball control but unless you're scoring on every single drive, forget it. You'd better be up by three scores if you give the ball back to PA with even five minutes left. And no punting. I'd go for it on fourth down all night long, because that's exactly what PA will do.

The Eagles should handle Mills. If they do what they do and don't turn the ball over, they will win. To beat PA, they will have to force PA turnovers. That's how you beat them. I've been pleased with how the Eagles' secondary has played the last couple weeks. They will be key to a win. They must get some int's and the offense must hang on to the football.

I hope the players are not looking past this weeks game as it sounds like some of the posters may be doing.

I don't think Mills is the type of team you look past as a player though, being an away conference game. I think u have Cruz Williams and Joe Adams confused. Joe plays for CAC and Cruz plays for Pulaski Academy, but both are similar receivers. Corrected, oops
