How did the Lady Eagles do yesterday? And why aren't they playing at the complex?

I had no idea that they weren't. Is the complex not ready or something?

the only thing I can think of is maybe Cantley felt it was too wet at the complex yesterday. The donafil drains much better than the red dirt at the complex.

Found out today that there's some sort of controversy over this. I was told that the softball team isn't playing at the complex because the team isn't being allowed to practice at the complex. That's just one side of the story and I haven't had the opportunity to hear the other yet, but the softball parents seem none too happy about the situation.
Jackie Burchfield is in a complete mess, but they were playing over there today. Had I been Stuttgart I would have refused to play a conference doubleheader on that field. First there is no scoreboard, and second there's about a 5-inch deep pair of ruts where the board was removed in soggy conditions.

Crossett High School has exclusive use of EC Crossett and Jackie Burchfield. The school is responsible for maintaining both and they have control of who uses them. That's how they wanted it. There never was a plan for any HS games to take place at the complex.

I'm almost positive that it was stated that the softball team would move to the complex this season and the the current field would be turned into a parking lot for E.C.

Crossett High There never was a plan for any HS games to take place at the complex. That's not my understanding of it. There were multiple conversations even last year that the high school girls might move over to the complex, even mid-season if it became ready in time. So I don't think that the school wanted it this way. If that's the truth I'd like to see some representation of that in writing somewhere. The city might want it this way. This specific issue never has come up in either a board meeting or a council meeting that I know of. There also has been a lot of conversation about razing Burchfield for a parking lot for E.C., going back years and years.

Ok im one of the players for the Lady Eagles Softball team and i will be the first to tell you about the complex if no one else will. First off the complex is too far away for the girls to drive at 2:30 (8th period) to go to practice, it would cause too much trouble and our practice time would have to be extended. Second the dirt over there is TERRIBLE..donafil is great..it doesn't cut us all up like that dirt does..yeah the guys may think that red clay is great but they wear pants we wear shorts, I think they could have done alot better of a job at the complex but nope..we can't even play on it. And our field wouldn't look like crap if 'someone' (no names) wouldnt have drove right down the middle of it leaving deep tire tracks all the way through our outfield..to take our scoreboard..I hope you proved your point! We have played on parkway ever since we started playing softball and if you want to take that away go ahead..thats selfish and inconsiderate. The Crossett softball team has always been a step behind every other sport..yeah we know we arent that important to alot of people..but we do our best on and off the field to prove the people that fall in that category wrong. When we win they hardly ever announce it over the intercom at the schools..but hey they never forgot to announce the football wins. I grew up playing softball at parkway..I love that field..there are TOO many memories on that field and to diss or ridicule that field hurts me and the rest of the team, the field may not look like much but it means the world to me and the rest of the people who have grown up out there. From what i hear they want to tear it down and turn it into the baseball parkin lot..yeah..that makes me feel really great. The girls are doing great this year..I wish some of you would take another glance at the Softball team, its not just a field to us like it is to most of you. We ended (11-3) for conference play..and we are headed to state May 6th Im excited to see how things play out we've had a great year together, hopefully the team and I will stick together and pull this one out.

Monticello split with Stuggart. Monticello is expected to take on another loss tonight in DH against White Hall. With the Lady Eagles win over Monticello this will put them in 2nd and taking on Marion at 1:45 Sat. May 6. The 4A East Teams are some of the best in the State this year.
White Hall 1, Crossett 2, Monticello 3 Beebe 1, Wynne2, Marion 3
The girls are working hard everyday getting ready. Keep up the good work.

Marion split the DH with Wynne. Score being I believe 3-2 (marion) & 3-0 (wynne). Nettleton taking 4th. Haven't heard much on Marion team. Wynne team was rumored to take first in their conference, but fell short to Beebe. The 4A State tournament will also be played at Wynne High School.

Marion is tough. There ace pitcher Ashley Allensworth is very good. Big bats and a good defense. They don't make many mistakes. We have played them 4 times this year, twice in tournys and the double header conference games this week, and we are 3-1 against them. 2-1 and 1-0, loss 2-3 and win 3-0. David Horton is the head coach and is one of the nicest guys you will see on the field. The AAAA East is by far the toughest conference in the state this year and unfortunately our 5th and 6th place teams could of done well in the state tourny, but only 4 get to go. Beebe is awesome. They are comprised of summer ball girls from the Beebe blast organization. Wynne is strong sporting 1 sophmore, 8 juniors and 1 senior in the starting 9. Layne McGuirt is the #1 pitcher. She throws around 62-64 mph and has been clocked at 65. She is being recruited by Pinkerton at U of A, and now is getting looks from Pac-10 schools such as UCLA. Nettleton is a very good team with only 1 senior in pitcher Lindsey McVeigh. They have some powerful bats and a very stingy defense. Freshman pitcher SHelby Wise is phenominal. She will play for the Indiana Gold this summer traveling all over teh U.S. Yours truly will be singing the National Anthem to start things up on Saturday morning, so I look forward to seeing all of you in Wynne, and make sure you say hi to me!! Wynneaholic. p.s. Marion softball fans are a whole different breed than their football and basketball folks!!! I know that is a relief to you!! They are some really good folks.for info concerning the Wynne Lady Jackets go to jacketsoftball.proboards74.com/

Who is your #3 seed form your conference?

Post by heathwaldrop on Apr 29, 2006 22:47:40 GMT -6
I think that the third seed might be Monticello, but I'm way out of the loop. The doubleheader conference schedule that the baseball and softball teams play in this conference further limit my ability to attend games, which was limited already since more than half of the games are played on Tuesdays.
