I am not sure of the standings for the girls at this point, but they had a good showing yesterday in the field events.
Kayla Daniels won the long jump with a distance of just over 17'3", with Brittany Bowen (a 9th grader) coming in 3rd with a jump of 16'11". (Interesting story... Brittany was not originally supposed to do the long jump, she took the place of one of her team mates at the last minute. Brittany jumped from Kayla's steps, and came very close to having the second longest jump.)
They girls head into the finals (basically all of the running events) on Thursday, at Monticello High's new track facilities. Please come out and show your support for these kids!
