I just heard that Paul Eells (The voice of THE RAZORBACKS) was killed tonight around 8:30/pm in a car accident. Please keep his family in your prayers . I just recently talked to him on the phone the day Steve Sullivan came to Crossett for the All-Star banquet. He was a very well liked man and a die heart Razorback fan. He will be sorely missed www.knwa.com/news/default.asp?mode=shownews&id=2327 Here's a link to check out

It is sad. Horrible way to start out Tuesday for me. I'm also saddened for his family.
Just weeks before football season, too. I wonder who might step in to fill his seat this fall.

Very sad. The past week or so has been terrible in sports for Razorback fans.
I would think that maybe Steve Sullivan may step up to do the games? That's just a guess though, and I'm far from a professional guesstimator.
It's weird how things work, I know a lot of people were thinking "it just can't get any worse" when McFadden broke his toe, but...things can ALWAYS get worse.

I'd be surprised if it was Sullivan, at least at this point. Sullivan did, or at least used to do, ASU games. I'm not sure if Broyles would go for him based on that. Not sure the fan base would either. Plus Sullivan is an ASU grad.
A better guess probably is Chuck Barrett, who I think was being groomed for the job anyway (last year he started throwing out a comment or two live during the game...in previous seasons he'd never done that).
I'm not sold on Barrett as a play-by-play man, particularly when workign with a color analyst. He's used to doing baseball and used to doing it alone.
We may get Barrett as a fill-in until they can find a permanent replacement. Don't be surprised if Keith Jackson doesn't hang around much longer either.

Mike Nail has been named as the "Voice of the Razorbacks" on an interim basis. I stumbled accross this info a few days before it was released but din't post anything until it was made pupblic. Sullivan is in the mix as a permanent replacement but it is my understanding that there will be several people interviewed in the future.

I don't like Sullivan as the guy. It's too obvious and with his ASU background I don't think he's a good fit.
I also didn't agree with what Wally Hall said today about Chuck Barrett and Randy Rainwater. I dont' think that there's any way that Rainwater could handle the job (he gets tongue-tied just talking about Sonic), but Barrett has far more credentials than Wally made him out to have.
I wish they'd go get somebody from outside of "the Nation," as they did when they got Paul Eells. I'd also rather they break the tie with KATV.

ARSN is owned by KATV and the ties between them and the University run too deep. Alot of people don't care for Barrett but he is the logical choice in my opinion. Rainwater sucks!!! Barrett is already emplyed bt ARSN and is extremely knowledgable of the Razorback program. He is a smarta... but did well last season as the 3rd man in the booth.

I liked Barrett much better before I ever heard his radio show. I used to love hearing him give the Razorback report and hearing him do the post-game call-in stuff. He played it very straight and professionally. Now that I've heard his radio show, I think that he's a d---.
Also, I have trouble picturing him doing play-by-play with a color man because he's used to doing baseball by himself.
