And about all that the Hogs had that year as far as talent was Balentine and Smokin' Joe from Slater, Mo. From there it was a lot of role players.
They also knocked of Houston that year, and that was during the era of Olajuwon.

Leroy Sutton is my favorite Razorack of all-time. I think he's a minister now.

Of all the Hog basketball games I've watched or listened over the years.....the era of Eddie Sutton's Hogs playing the Univ of Houston's Phi Slamma Jamma still brings back great memories. I'm afraid I may be one of the only posters who may have been around for this era. Anyone else remember these?

I'm afraid I may be one of the only posters who may have been around for this era. Anyone else remember these? That winter I was living just north of Houston in Huntsville. I lived next door to the hotel that the Hogs stayed in when they played A&M every other year. I remember those battles well.

Eddie: Were you able to see any of these games in person or able to go to the hotel and visit with any of the players?

Eddie: Were you able to see any of these games in person or able to go to the hotel and visit with any of the players? The Hogs played A&M in Fayetteville that year. I stayed there the year before with Mac Rae Deal and went to Kyle Field and watched Ark get spanked. No football fan should consider their viewing expirience fullfilled till they go to Kyle Field and see that spectacle. TV does not do it justice. We moved back that next summer and it wasn't long before my mother took over the restaurant from your Dad.

I would love to see the sacred ground of Kyle Field and watch a football game and "The 12th Man". For those who may not know. The actual field of Kyle Field is considered sacred and no one but football players, coaches, specified cadets, band members at half time, etc. are allowed on touch the grass of the actual field. I remember one year when the SMU cheerleaders went out onto Kyle Field to form the letters S- M - U by laying on the field. This outraged the Aggies so bad that some of the A&M cadets actually drew their sabers with the intent to do actual bodily harm to the "trespassing" cheer squad. Fortunately, the cheerleaders (guys and girls) were able to outrun the sword waving cadets off the field . It was fun to watch on TV though.

I forgot about Robertson, but I thought that Walker was gone already by then. I don't even remember Sutton. I remember Scott Rose. Who remembers Scott Rose??

We've strayed way off-topic here but I'll go ahead and add this...
I had a chance to make myself famous in fall '95 when I was outside of an unguarded Texas Stadium with three other friends. Of course this was after Arkansas and Texas had ended the annual rivalry, so there wasn't as much at stake.
One of the other guys is an Arkansan, and we always wondered later what it would have been like to have broken in and dug up the Longhorn head.

Walker may have been gone, too long ago now. Leroy Sutton will always be the top blue collar player for Ark. Nothing flashy, just went out and did his job. All rebounds were his rebounds. You don't see that much today.

Rose was one of these guys that made you think "Why is he on scholarship???" Total defensive role-player type. The ultimate white boy. He couldn't shoot a decent short jumper even when he wasn't guarded.

You'll never make me believe that SMU coaches didn't have Koncak on growth hormones. He went from 6'6" to 7' his freshman year in college. He was deformed just like Andre the Giant.
