It is my understanding that for those that don't have ESPNU that KNOE in Monroe has reached sme sort of deal that allow them to broadcast the game on TV8 saturday night. Has anyone else heard this?

do the hogs ever come down to ulm and play No, because this is one of those "pay-for-play" games. It never will be a home-and-home.

Yeah, I think it will always be at the rock when they play. I heard somewhere that it was considered a home game for ULM too, don't know how much truth there is to that though.
I found ULM's first drive comical. Looking back on it, it wasn't funny...it was sad. You could really tell that the Hogs had the big head a little and didn't come to play. Their QB made some good plays, but he also threw 5 interceptions lol. I heard Michael Grant talking on the radio, he said his coordinator pulled him out so he wouldn't break his record of 3 interceptions lol.

I heard somewhere that it was considered a home game for ULM too, don't know how much truth there is to that though. It was part of the deal struck about three years ago. ULM gets to count that as a home game each year, so it will boost its attendance averages and keep it above the minimum for D-IA. I'm a little perplexed over this rule, though, because there are other programs that I know aren't meeting the minimum, unless the minimum changed. I think that it was over 20,000, and there were facilities mandates also that some of the mid-majors did not and could not meet--Arkansas State for instance. Either the mandates were relaxed or they aren't being enforced. The guy you're talking about is secondary coach Louis Campbell, who is originally from Hamburg.

Actually it is a 10 year deal with ULM being the home team every other year. They $500,000 and 55,00 fans in return.

Wow, I didn't know he was from Hamburg. I wouldn't mind ULM vs. Arkansas being at ULM, because it'd be closer to home (assuming I could get tickets). But they will be playing 2 games per year in Little Rock for several more years at least, right? I remember Orlando Green fighting to make sure they played some games in Little Rock I believe.

You will never see a college from a BCS conference play at the campus of a mid major or lower tier team. Malone only seats 30,000 and although playing their would ensure a sellout ULM could not afford the $500,000 guarantee big colleges demand. Arkansas will play 2 games in LR for awhile. But if ticket sales continue at the pace they are this year I for see that changing. Arkansas is losing alot of money by playing in LR. About 20,000 less tickets are sold in LR because of War Memorials limited capacity. If the city of LR doesn't expand or build a new stadium they may lose 1 or both games in the future. Central Ark has already been shut out of basketball games , except the occasional game at Alltel because voters refused to build a new arena. Once NLR did it was too late. NLR may have to step up again and build something like they did for the Travs.

oneguy, U of A (and other major D-1 schools) pays mid-majors like ULM to play it.

Yeah, a lot of people (like myself) can't afford to travel all the way up to Fayetteville to watch a game. So all of us from down here get to go watch one, maybe two games in person per year, and that really gets people pumped up.
I don't remember how loud it was at Fayetteville, because I think the last time I went was Cedric Cobbs' freshman season. How much louder is it at Fayetteville than LR?
And about the ticket sales...did you mean they aren't selling enough, or the prices are getting to high, or what?

War Memorial holds 20,000 less than Razorback Stadium. Simply put, Arkansas can make an additional $700,000 per game if the those 2 games were in Fayetteville. That's $1.4 million extra per year.

Yeah, but I'm sure the university already knows that if they stop holding games at War Memorial Stadium, people will be very very upset about it. Hopefully that will hold off the end of LR games for a while.

Hopefully that will hold off the end of LR games for a while. You know Arkansas is one if not the last major University to play home games at 2 sites. So the likelihood of this practice continuing permanently is slim.

Yeah, I don't expect it to continue too much longer.
Do you happen to know what other major universities still do this other than Arkansas?

I can tell you some of the ones that used to but don't anymore, but I can't think of any now that do.
You wouldn't remember this and you probably don't even know this, but UA used to play basketball games not only in Fayetteville AND in Little Rock, but also a game or two in Pine Bluff every year. In fact one of the biggest wins in program history was at Pine Bluff. Who remembers which one?

Best bball game in Hog history took place in Pine Bluff the day Charles Balentine's last minute shot sent Michael Jordan and the #1 'heels home emptyhanded.
