My husband and I went to a few football, but didn't go back because when you need to go to the bathroom or concession stand it like going to war to get there, so i think a student section would help with that too... let's rally together and git r done cause i know three or four of you parents have kids going up to the high school in a few years.. mine included let see what it would take to start it..

Yeah, I know what you mean bazeballmom3. I'm not really sure what the non-students can do about a student section, would we all need to attend a school board meeting of some kind or what? Or do we just have to leave it up to the students?
And Joy, sound like a plan to me (there's no thumbs up smilie, but if there was, I'd put it here).

I also think a student section is a good idea. There is, however, one major problem. I do not think the students on a whole care about the game in the least. I feel they are quite happy standing around in everybodies way, so you cannot get to the concession stand or the restrooms without going through a gaunlet to get there. Just another failure of the Crossett administration, because it was my understanding that the students were told they WOULD be required to be seated. That did not last long. What about the people who are there to see there friends? Not necessarily to see the game? Please don't forget this demographic. I know they would be okay if there was just a place for them to talk, away from the band. Otherwise, I think the idea is great for school spirit.

No one has said students would "required" to sit in the student section. But it would be nice if a person could take his/her younger child to the restroom and be able use the sidewalk which is to walk on not socialize. By the way student sections are generally located next to or close to the band. If you are a student you should care enough about the school to root for the home team and not just socialze.

Sould they care enough? ABSOLUTELY. Do they care enough? That's much more complicated, and I probably shouldn't answer that.

I just want to know how they would get the whole student section idea to work. Would they rope off a section so to speak and say this is only for students? Who has to decide that there is indeed going to be a student section? Surely, it has to be someone other than anyone posting on this thread. The administration would have to sanction it or something. Doesn't organizing a student section fall under the cheerleaders responsibilities? Thats their job, to cheer, right? I think if they promoted the idea throughout the school more people would be inclined to jump on board. Most of the students have not got a clue about a student section being discussed, I think the idea has to get some more publicity before anyone actually sits in a student section.

Well Ford, there are in face at least two cheerleaders that post here on occasion, but unfortunately they are both graduating this year. What needs to happen at this point is a sophomore or a junior to step up and work on it. What I think would have to happen is something like a petition to get started by the cheerleaders. If they can get enough people to sign saying that they would sit in the student section, maybe the administration would see a use for one. Until something like that happens, it's all speculation as to whether it would just be an empty section pushing everyone else closer together, or the loudest section in the stands packed with students. I've been kinda gettin' on the students I know about it a little, but nothing seems to be getting done lol. Come on guys, take initiative

It wouldn't have to be anything official at first. Just get a big gang of students together and have all of them sit in one place. That's how all of these things get started. After half a season of this, everyone will get the hint.

We were originally told that we couldn't stand anywhere this year. Somehow, it got ignored and we didn't sit. That is those of us that don't watch the games. And there will always be those who don't watch the games. Mostly students. I'm sorry to inform you of this, but there are. Some years there aren't many; others, you would have trouble counting them. I am just asking that they be recognized and remembered. If you told them that they just need to stay off the side walk so that people with children can get to the bathrooms, most of them would comply, and stand to the side. I would like to point out, though, how much at a professional game you have to bob, weave, and dodge through people. All at those games are there to see the game, and you still have to dodge through them. I realize that Crossett doesn't even have as many people as some of these professional games, but is it a much smaller area to fit people into. Did you really think it would be that different?

Yeah, I'm not really convinced that the majority of students care about a mother trying to get her child to the bathroom or anything like that. I'd like to think they do, but it hasn't been proven to me yet. If they cared about that stuff, they'd at least stand in the grass/dirt area, don't you think?
I think the first step to Heath's idea (just start an unofficial student section) is to end the standing and talking on the sidewalk. After that, it may get started on itself.
