Wow, big news from the hill Malzaun leaves to be the assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator at Tulsa. BD! - Also Mr. Overrated (out of HS) Mustain & his Mom Beck will go also, he gets to set out a year and actually learns to be a college QB, something he'd never agree to at UA under any terms! HDN hires another OC (maybe he goes back and gets the $ from FB to get a Norm Chow or Cutcliffe) and the same people who didn't have a clue when Hatfield was the coach are still whine-ing and shine-ing! Guess what folks only 3 things happen when U throw the football & 2 of those are BAD! Unfortunately Mustain has the potential to be a better QB than Dick will ever be, so we still need someone to throw the ball to Monk-Johnson & hopefully Cleveland next year! Give me 3 yards and a cloud of dust, a healthy Hillis, McFadden & Jones and the Hogs can compete with anyone, heck put Goodson at QB & Outlaw in short yardage AKA-Tim Teabow! LOL ;D

I was figuring U for the hand-offs & the short passes underneath (keeping the defense honest) and such, course a lot of WILDCAT will negate U or Outlaw either getting many snaps! Skippy, who U ben talking to that was at the 2003 WS in PB? ? ?

I'm withdrawing my support for U of A football effective yesterday.
This is the single most disheartening thing ever to happen since Houston Nutt took over as coach. This shows a lack of commitment to improve the program.
After all of this talk about improving the offense and learning how to pass the football, there is strong word now that they're going to bring in David Lee...a freaking option coach.
I'm done. I'm done with them. Get ready for more 7-5 seasons. And dont' expect McFadden to win the Heisman next year, either.
Boys, we missed our chance to get to that next level. We're going to regret letting Malzhan go for the rest of our natural lives. The only hope is that we can get him back as a head coach when Nuttcase retires, or is fired.

Boy what a team we R building to support D-Mc! With jwh blocking for Goodson he could go all the way----to the concession stand! Nah Nah Nah Naah Hey Heey GOOD-BYE Mr. Mustain & take yo Momma away from Hogville PLEASE! Seems like a lot of people forget that HDN is the Hooking Bull and if he doesn't want to pass the football, and doesn't want to beg people who obviously don't want to be Hogs, to play or coach, WE R BETTER OFF WITHOUT THEM! Don't let the door hit 'em in the tookus on the way out! If MM trans to a D1 school and sets out it will make him a better QB than if he'd have stayed here & played, but we don't need him or his mommy! I don't know about bringing D. Lee back to the hill, hasn't he already had 2 shots there. FB needs to cough up some $'s to get a sho-nuff offensive guru to lead us to the promised land and into the beyond, U know AFTER DMc is playing on Sunday afternoons! Someone tried and tested that HDN can trust to have his back! Malz seems to have been a class act, so he's moved on, the HOG Nation should too! Sorry no time for a spell check, but I think I'm ahead of ctownvillian in that catagory anyway! LOL--- ;D

That's just it...they ARE bringing David Lee back, apparently, or at least trying to, and yes, he already has been here twice and was unsuccessful both times. If you remember, most recently he was here as the QBs coach when WHO was the quarterback? Matt freaking Jones.
If there has been one thing unanimous throughout the entirety of the Nutt era, ever since Stoerner left, it has been that Arkansas needs to learn how to throw the football better, and never was that outcry the loudest than when Jones was the quarterback and Lee was the quarterbacks coach.
So now as the outcry grows to a din again, what do we want to do? Bring back another failed coach!
And guess who else is being considered? LARRY COKER. Larry Coker, are you kidding me?!
The deal with Nutt isnt' as simple as "It's his team, he can do what he wants." HE LIED. Period. If you want fan support, you cannot come out and blatantly LIE to it, lie to recruits, lie to coaches on your staff, lie lie lie to everyone, but that's exactly what he did...and this time we caught him in it.
"This will be Gus Malzahn's offense."
No it wasn't.
"Gus is calling the plays."
No he wasn't. Clearly.
"We want Gus to stay."
The whole time he was being pushed out.
And finally,
"There is no dissention, all of that is just Internet rumor."
Bull.
It's pretty clear now that Houston hired Gus in order to try to get to his players, which worked, and now they've figured out what was up and all of them are going to leave. Andrew Norman is the only one who won't and he wasn't worth a crap to begin with.
If I'm a receiver, I leave Arkansas now, either declare myself eligible for the draft or transfer somewhere else. I'll never catch more than 15 passes in a season. Who could blame me?
If I'm a highly-respected quarterback and Arkansas offers me a scholarship, I turn it down and go somewhere else. I'll never throw for more than 1,200 yards. Who could blame me?
This whole deal has wrecked the program and it has wrecked support for the program--mine included and I'm far from being alone. I used to be firmly in Nutt's corner...I never have been a basher, but this latest episode has gone way too far. Even if the team goes undefeated and win the national title next year, which nobody with half a brain thinks will happen, this program will not get me back. Not as long as Nutt is the coach.
And I'll tell you what...JFB deserves a lot of criticism in this whole debate himself.

Well Mustain and Malzahn are gone and guess what? I'm not even upset about it. Kinda glad they are. Why? Because it has been nothing but chaos since their arrival. The Springdale prima donnas brought nothing but trouble and an the attitude they above everyone else. Don't get me wrong but I Gus is a great coach but he is a coach that wants total control. Not many programs in big time college football that will allow that to happen. Tulsa is far from big time. He will do well there and Mustain will also if he chooses to go there.
As an outsider looking in I think Malzahn came in with a chip on his shoulder and it didn't sit well with the other coaches. Houston may not our preferred coach but he is there as long Frank is there. Am I giving up on the Hogs? NO NO NO!!!!. I'm not a fair weather fan like alot in this state. I bleed Razorback Red and will continue to follow ,support and travel to see them play regardless of who the coach is or what their record is.
I've gotten to see live , some great players, Matt Jones, Jay Cutler, Shaun Alexander, Ken Hamlin, Caleb Miller,Cadilac Williams, and Ronnie Brown just to name a few. There is nothing better than SEC football.
My hope now is Arkansas can land Kodi Burns. A QB that can pass and run!!!!

As an outsider looking in I think Malzahn came in with a chip on his shoulder and it didn't sit well with the other coaches. See, I think opposite. I think that the other coaches had it out for him from the beginning. There was the chiding that Herring gave him, calling him "High School," and there were complaints by Gus about a lack of cooperation from Markuson. The hire was forced on Houston Nutt, which was blatantly obvious since for years and years he said that he didn't need a coordinator, and I think that that trickled on down through his staff from the very beginning. A woman calling in to "SportsRap" tonight said that even Gus' wife was shut out from social gatherings that the other coaches' wives were involved in. I'm not fair-weather, either. I've been a fan since I was at least as young as four, and probably younger than that. That's around 28 years, and I wasn't around to see glory days of the '60s and '70s so I saw a lot of bad times. But now, to me, this is something different. I could handle a losing season better than this nonsense. Heck, I sat with them through two of them in a row. I'm a much more level-headed fan than most but this is just too much. Houston Nutt has been exposed publicly as a liar, not only to his own players but to the fans. I was a huge supporter of his early on, and even through the losing seasons I refrained from criticising him. But he has lost me after all of this mess. And if he has lost me, a fan who always has been conservative in my feelings about his failures, imagine how many others he has lost? They're never going to get Kodi Burns. They're never going to get a highly-rated quarterback again after this, as long as Nutt is the coach. Bank on it. What would be the point?

I don't believe much of what the callers say on sportsrap or what is said in the Hog forums. Both are dominated by idiots that are' FAIR WEATHEWR" fans. They been on and off of the band wagon so much it won't even go by thier house anymore. I'm not in any way fully behind Nutt. Had David Lee accepted the job last year Malzahn would have still been in Springdale. I see where the other are coming from. They paid their dues and worked their way up through the ranks and Malzahn leaps to a banner job on his first hire. Malzahn did say today that he did call all of theplays during a game but they were the plays all the offensive coach put in the weekly game plan. So yes it was him that had DMac on the bench on 4th and short. Arkansas is not the only major college to have a big time recruit transfer or coach to leave. They will survive. As for David Lee , here is an interesting read on him. www.cowboysplus.com/topstorync/stories/120906cpmosleyfront.d92493.html

I've decided I'm going to be like Switzerland in this whole mess, neutral. If there's one thing I've learned about five years of reading on hogville, it's that you can not get a clear picture about anything by reading those posts. The picture is never as dark as it is painted on that board. There have been problems for sure. I'm going to sit back and see what plays out. Asking me to stop supporting the Hogs is like asking me to stop loving a family member.
This whole deal so closely mirrors the way many in the country view President Bush. The blind hatred that some have toward HDN is enough for me to see that I will not be apart of their argument. I've even had to call a couple guys on it over on fearless. They jump on people for blindly hating President Bush, then turn around and do the samething to HDN. That's hypocrisy.
I will not be dragged into it. The person I'm not happy with is Frank Broyles, but I'm not going to attack him though. My problem is with the direction of the athletic program as a whole. I sense some movement among the board of trustees on that front and won't be suprised to see Frank step down. If the basketball team implodes, I'm sure we'll see it. Until then, I'm standing in support of the existing Hogs as they are.

I saw Frank on the tube the other night. What is he 102 now? He has been good to the University in the past but I belive it's time for a change. But the change we see may be Nutt as AD. Personally I think the AD should not be affiliated with any sport. After all he is supposed to "manage" the athletic department. Having a football coach at AD is just asking for problems because he is still, a la Frank, going to want to have major input and "coach".

Those of you declaring the Springdale kids to be brats and their parents meddling are simply repeating the lies and talking points straight out of the Broyles Center.
Those kids have more intregity and class than Nutt and his cronies do.
As for asst. coaches, remember, this is the same Houston Nutt that ran off Joe Ferguson, the same Ferguson that Clint Stoerner credited as being vital to his development as a QB.

Hey DR hate to break it to U but surprise-surprise the Springdale Kids are BRATS and their parents made them that way! Gus Malzaun and MM were not saviors, just the opposite! If MM was all that & a box of rocks Wies would have made him the heir apparent to Brady Quinn. I said it once, I'll say it again, they should not let the door hit them in the tookus on the way out! We do not need them! And yes sir I been study-ing David Lee last night and this morning, he very well could rock, Matt Jones credits him with making him a passer & Romo will pay his & his wife's way to travel to Hawaii out of Romo making the Pro-Bowl and his improvement at QB, not my boy Sean Peyton whose SAINTS will kick butt Sunday at Chicago! Guess what HS-Malzaun works his way up from Tulsa and turns out to be D1 coach in about 10 to 12 years! MM, will probably play on Sunday's, but the year off (providing he does D1-trans) actually makes him a better QB!

Please forgive me DR, until a few minutes ago, I FORGOT U R the NUTT from Wynne who posted the crap about "Any Good Louisiana Coaches" (yea-PUTZ- I know U R a Buddy of Heaths), but he had to log on and explain U were not talking about Teodis, but your NCAA twin star Don Campbell after his resignation at Wynne! (NCAA =No Class At All) Remember Campbell called Ingram B4 the playoff game in 2002 to congratulate T on a great run, but Crossett really wasn't in the same class or league or level with Wynne because Wynne had a winning tradition that Crossett was in search of! Long trip home with your TAIL between your legs wasn't it? I got so many phone calls after your "Louisiana" post it ain't funny! Now U R trying to tell me it's Malzaun and Mustain (forget Waterboy Williams, doubt he will catch 19 passes in his career at USC) that were wronged? U know what BUB? I bleed RAZORBACK RED, I grew up and I am still from the POOR side of the tracks, radio, TV and newsprint are my sources! I've been to enough Hog GAMES to really make me LOVE it and WISH I could win the lottery so I'd never miss another game (FB, BKSB - BB-SB-Soccer) or track meet! But U sir need to give it up, look up FAIR WEATHER in the dictionary, U will see you're PICTURE! Carry you're tail to Tulsa with GM & hopefully MM & lose the CROSSETT EAGLE WEBSITE! Thanks
