Lanny, who owns hogville, has become a friend of mine over the last couple years. He gets a bad rap for people who are banned from his site. He actually does almost none of the bans. There are a bunch of mods and admins on that board and a few of them are way over zealous. That board has become huge in the last year and a half. I don't envy their job of modding that board. I rarely post on that board myself. I stick to fearless where my friends are.
I've seen firsthand how tough the job is since I've taken on my increased role on fearless friday. If someone's been banned over the last couple month's, it's been me that has done it. We had an out of control mod that I helped reign in. We had an attempted board revolt I had to deal with. Lanny is one of the most loyal people I've ever met and he will back his mods no matter what.

I think the power just gets to some peoples' heads when they are able to do something like ban a person from a website at their own discression. Some just can't handle that type of responsibility (nobody in particular). But back to the topic...Do you guys think Rod will be able to make an impact during his career as a Hog? I read that he ran a 4.47 laser time, which is usually equivalent to about a 4.37 hand-clocked time..that puts him very near DMac speed. I think he could be a playmaker at whatever position he plays at some point.

I have doubts the Rod Brown will get an offer to play WR for ARK. The sad fact for him is that I don't think the Hogs will have room for him. They might offer him as an athlete and move him, but I doubt it. All those receivers from Warren committing may meet the Hogs quotta for WR's. I do think that SEC schools will offer though. It would not surprise me to see Ole Miss and LSU offer him quickly once they start the season.

Hmm, I figured he may get an offer as a safety or LB or something...I hope the best for him.

Hmm, I figured he may get an offer as a safety or LB or something...I hope the best for him. OLB might be a possibility, but he'd have to put on another 20 pounds for the SEC. Rod Brown's best game defensively was the P.A. game last year. He laid some solid licks on Broderick Green. He gave just as much as Green did. He can lay a hit.

If he gets an offer, most seem to think it will be as LB. They are still going crazy about him on the Rivals site. He got many many looks from Razorback coaches. Louis Campbell was told about him in January. Regardless of whether the Hogs come knocking or not, he has laid the ground work to get a D-1 schollie somewhere. A solid season and good grades will carry him a long way, coupled with a good attitude and work ethic.

I guess he has no highlight videos at this time, does he? I've always wondered this- does a player have to get someone to record him playing for a highlight video himself? or how does that work? A few clips of swapping licks with B. Green would've probably went a long way in the minds of college coaches

I'd like to know, but i don't have a Hogville account and never have had one that I can recall. I may have had one before the big site changeover a few years ago. You should copy some of the more noteworthy things and post them here.

If he gets an offer it will be to play defense. As I believe that I said in this thread somewhere else, he doesn't have the interest or aptitude for WR.
I spoke to him back in the spring and he told me that he wants to play safety in college. Not really sure why. I seriously doubt that that ever happens. They're going to want him as a linebacker wherever he goes. Tall guy like that with his speed, he's got the prototypical build for an SEC OLB.
(of course he also has the prototypical build for an SEC receiver)

I've always wondered this- does a player have to get someone to record him playing for a highlight video himself? or how does that work? Good coaching staffs do that for their players. PA for example. Doubtful that Broderick Green ever would have been pursued by USC otherwise.

Here you go, Heath: "I love this kid and I think he will only end up a 2 star because Arkansas will offer and I think he will commit and no1 else will have a chance to evaluate him that much. Best Sleeper in my book." "That is very, very fast for someone his size. I have heard is one of the best athletes in the state." "15 more pounds and that is a beast Will linebacker."

Do you think Rod will have a highlight video made? If so, it would be cool to have it put on youtube like Gvona's was so everyone can see it.

Rod's best bet for a college scholarship are his raw numbers from that seniors' camp. He will get offers based on that, not based on past on-the-field performances. If he has a superior senior season that only can help, but he'll get signed on potential alone.

Good news for him If he doesn't get to be a Hog, he should come down to ULM with me...we need football-wise anyway, and I think he could possibly be a star player...but I know it's very possible that he goes to a bigger school than ULM.

Rivals is reporting that he's been offered by both Mississippi State and Tulsa.

Okay guys, national signing day is coming up fast- does anyone have an idea of who Rod Brown will sign with? I see on rivals that his three schools of interest are Arkansas, Tulsa and Memphis...I think it would be great to see him at Tulsa if they have offered.

I talked to him a couple weeks back and he was still undecided. He's still on the fence about what sport he wants to play. He has offers in football, basketball, and track. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go in any of those directions. He's got the physique for football, the heart for basketball, and the legs for track and field.
