Seems that the School System has really pissed some folks off BIG TIME. The School system won't let Relay for Life be held in Crossett this year because they don't want people walking on the track so it will be held in Hamburg. Something like Relay for Life that is for a good cause and all they do is walk around the track ................thats a shame . Wonder if they will tell GP they can't have a fun day ??

They should have known it was going to happen. The warranty on the track will be voided if they let vehicles of any kind on any part of the track. I do not blame the school for this. Until the warranty expires, I don't see them letting anyone use the field for anything. There's no reason GP couldn't use the practice field for the fun day. The Relay folks could have done so as well. I think the old Wal Mart parking lot could have been used if they wanted it.

I like the idea of having it in Hamburg. It will give new life to the event and make it more county-wide.
However, there's a possibility that Hamburg's entire stadium will be done within the next year, necessitating yet another move.
There's a lot of money invested in that track and I don't blame them for not wanting it messed up. I'm curious now if Project Graduation will be affected.

I need to set the record straight on this. The school actually wanted the relay for life at the track. I was personally at meetings where it was discussed. There were however stipulations for this to happen as to not void the warranty on the track. The folks heading up the relay decided themselves to move to Hamburg, not the decision of the School system at all! I think any reasonable person would not want the new track damaged nor would want the warranty voided. The Project Graduation is still going to be held there. Just wanted to clear this up. Thanks

GP if i am not mistaken has moved to the rodeo grounds a couple years back for their fun day anyway....if i am wrong please correct me......The school has actually spent money for mats to put on the track so you could drive across the track to the grass so as not to get on the surface....people would have had to use 4 wheelers or other way to transport there stuff to there tent areas. The organizers didn't want to do this or want the responsibility of keeping people off with any kind of wheels.

G-P Paper hasn't had Fun Day in a long time, about five years as I recall. G-P Plytanium has been having its Fun Day out at the rodeo grounds for several years though.
