Furlow is one of only 2 Arkansans on the 2007 Tennessee Roster. Ricardo Kemp of Warren is the other one.

Kudos to Furlow for sticking it out as a walk on. Not many players do it for three seasons in football. Much more common in basketball; all but unheard-of in football.

By the way, Furlow was redshirted his Freshman year so he still has 2 years left after this one.

He has been at safety, don't know about this season. They have him listed as a DB. He even has his picture in the Media Guide this year. I thought that he was in there last year also. As for PT, I'd call it highly unlikely. He's being retained primary because Tennessee had a rash of injuries at that position two seasons ago and you never know. Also it never hurts to have experienced players on the scout team. |

I got to wondering what happened to the much recruited Slick Shelley from Ft. Smith. He signed with and redshirted at Tennessee last year. So I did a little research and found that he has transfered to mighty Tulsa. That class of kids from the River Valley and NW Arkansas seem to be really selfish and unsure of what they want.

So I did a little research and found that he has transfered to mighty Tulsa. That class of kids from the River Valley and NW Arkansas seem to be really selfish and unsure of what they want. You know, Arkansas never even offered Slick Shelley from what I understand. He had a very strange recruiting process. Nobody knew anything about him and then during the playoffs his junior year, he went off for some huge amount of receiving yardage. His senior season was a disappointment as I recall, and several teams backed off of him. I think that the situation with the Sprindgale group is a horse of an entirely different color. |

The inside scoop on Shelley is that during his recruitment his father was very demanding. Wanting favors and such from coaches. Arkansas wouldn't play his game. I think once Tennessee got him on campus they saw the real Slick Shelley.
I learned something interesting on JUCO transfers. In the SEC a player must complete 2 years of JUCO with the same school to be allowed to tranfer in.
