Wanda June King, of Crossett, AR passed away on September 7, 2007 at her residence. She was born on September 14, 1942 in Lou Ann, AR to her late parents, Theo and Thelma Ann Martin Drummonds. Mrs. King was a lifelong Baptist. She enjoyed watching every sport, especially cheering and calling the Hogs. She coached, played and umpired slow pitch softball for 45 years. She loved coaching and watching her girls play. June was awarded numerous all tourney and her most memorable was being named Most Valuable Player in the 1978 AR State Slow Pitch Softball Tournament. Mrs. King was an avid bowler and won AR State Singles and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. She won multiple golf tournaments and awards with her golf partner, Joyce Carter. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking for all her children and friends. Mrs. King was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dale Drummonds.
Survivors include: her husband of 47 years, Ronnie C. King of Crossett, AR; one son, Lance Allen King and wife, Stacy of Crossett, AR; three daughters, Denice “Neicy” Roberts and husband, Chad of Little Rock, AR, Roni MacRae Ray and husband, Brian of Crossett, AR, Lee Ann Thurmon and husband, Jesse of Junction City, AR; two brothers, Lamar Drummonds of Springdale, AR, Dennis Drummonds of Emerson, AR; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2007 at Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Carlton White and Bro. Donald Wayne Stafford officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR. (www.jonesservice.com)
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Heart Association, 909 W. 2nd St., Little Rock, AR 72201.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
