Just wanted to let the band know how much I enjoyed sitting next to them at the White Hall Game. They played "Great" and you could tell they really enjoy being in the band. They had fun with their dancing also. Of course, we have to sit on the 50 yard line at home. I told Pa, I miss being beside the band tonight !!!! (HomeComing)

One thing I have always appreciated about our school is that our band always travels to the away games. Most all the teams we play in the Little Rock area do not send their band to Crossett. The last time we played in West Helena, their band was away at some kind of competition. Now that is really sad!!
I've known of a couple of times that we have sent a "pep band" rather than the whole band, but we could at least hear our alma mater at all the games.
Max has played football for as long as I can remember, and he has played in the band since 6th grade, and is now in the UAM band (along with his big sis). Since he can't get out on the field and play football, he can't wait to get to the games with his tuba to play in the stands. Now That is spirit!

Finally! A little praise for our band!
I want to say that I really enjoy them too. They have a lot of fun up there and honestly, our band has more spirit than any other band I have seen. Of course, I am biased and I have always thought they rock!

The band has long been underappreciated it seems to me. There are more kids participating in the band programs than there are in all the sports programs combined and yet the band seldom if ever gets the respect (or the money) it deserves. I'm glad to hear they finally built the new band stand they've been talking about for years.
Are they still wearing those warm up suits?

Not near as many kids in band these days. The Jr. High band only has about 40 members this year.

The band is rocking this year and I think it will only get better. I do feel that they are not as recognized as they should be. I think it is disrespectful for people to get up during their performances. Families can't see their students and the crowd doesn't cheer for them, like they use too. I feel that Mr. McClaren and Mr. Dunn are churning out some fantastic performances and that will get students more interested.

Let me clarify myself, the only thing I was disagreeing with was the the statement that more kids were in band than all sports combined. The band has improved greatly since the Magnoilia game .

One of my goals for next football season is to get together a CHS alumni band to play at homecoming (or some other game)! I talked with Mr. Mac about that and he said that is something that has been talked about for several years, but nothing ever came to fruition. I think that it would be fantastic. Does anyone know any other schools that have done this?

I think its an excellent idea. I've been floating one around in my head also concerning our Super Eagle team. I'd like have a game next year with them the honerees and present them to the fans.

And the sign that Mrs. Ingram made for the back of the band stand added so much - it looked great! The whole field looked great for homecoming. The track, the flags, the sign and even the trash cans painted maroon. Someone took the time to make sure everything was looking good.
