The beginning of another school year is 2 days away. New Principal, Assistant Principal, the start of a great new school year. For you band students that frequent this board, please be aware that the Tuesday the 21st will be our first Tuesday night practice. 6-8, either the football field or DIS. I'll let you know Tuesday in class. Attended several clinics at the UAM Band Camp and at ABA. Learned some new things. Had several students attend Band Camp, Lizzy Wilson attended THREE. I'll continue to post here, but will probably limit it to accomplishments of band students. Most information and announcements will be posted on the CHS Band web site. csd1.sesc.k12.ar.us/jmclaren/jmclaren.htmAll are invited to visit the site and look at everything that is there. There are 9 pages. Links are provided from page to page or you can go back to the home page and link from there. If you use IE be prepared for sounds. They will not, unfortunately, play on Netscape or Firefox. It's a FrontPage thing. Band parents (or anyone who is interested) please enroll in the CHS Band Booster Club. Forms will be given to band students in the following week. Thanks to the mods of this site for letting me use this as way of getting accomplishments of the band students out.

There is a link on the CHS Web site. DO NOT USE. This is an old site that is no longer used. Hopefully the CHS web site will be updated soon.
There is a link on the Edline site if you are a parent of a CHS or NHS band student. It is a good link.
NHS information will be given through the NHS school web site. Mrs. White will update it (the site, not just the band stuff) every day.

The show this year will be a salute to college football teams. we will be playing the fight songs of Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Michigan, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and a surprise. The marching will be more of a Big 10 style except for the stride.

Interesting choice to do college fight songs. Know of any other Arkansas bands that have done recently or will be doing anything similar?

No band has done this since I came to Crossett in '83. Warren, last year, did a military drill show.
What do you think the surprise is? Tim Gunter loaned me the arrangement.

I wanted to pass along some thoughts concerning the rodeo parade and the CHS band. I was terribly disappointed in the appearance of the band, ie. shirts untucked, pants with holes in them. Looked very unprofessional. Anytime CHS band is preforming it needs to shine, no matter the heat or cold. You represent us as a city and I want to be able to say anywhere anytime, "this is our band!" You can! BAM!! hit the nail on the head! Well said slappyshoeshine.

As a former band parent, I'm tickled to see this thread here. I've wondered how they were doing under McLaren's direction. Thanks for the link to the band website.

I would like to thank the Band Booster Club for our gift. The band really don't receive much so we are grateful for this.
