Here are some interesting (and in some cases very difficult) questions about CHS athletes and coaches in various state All-Star games through the years. Post your answers! (And don't cheat by looking it up)
*Name the four Crossett High players who have been selected as MVPs of the football All-Star game. Hint: Three of them were in the '90s.
*Who was the only CHS coach ever to be head coach at a football All-Star game? (Hint: If you're thinking of the obvious, you're wrong.)
*We all know that Bobby Richardson has been named an Arkansas High-School Coaches Association Outstanding Coach more times than any other individual in state history...but how many times was it, when was the first time and when was the last? And how many times was he named it consecutively?
*Who was the only CHS coach ever to be named the AHSCA Outstanding Boys' Tennis Coach? (this one came as a big surprise to me)
*Who was the only Ashley County coach ever to win the Lowell Manning Award or the Curt King Award?
*Who was the only CHS coach ever to be named the AHSCA Oustanding Girls' Track Coach?
*How many times have CHS coaches been named AHSCA Oustanding Girls' Tennis Coaches? Hint: Each of them received the honor once, and the award began in 1978.
*Which two AHSCA Outanding Coaches Awards did CHS coaches receive in 1996-'97?
And just a tidbit of info...no CHS athlete ever has received an award in either the boys' or girls' basketball All-Star games.

Since nobody even has tried at this one, I'll answer a few of them and then give you some more time on the rest.
Question No. 3: Bobby Richardson was named Outstanding Boys' Track Coach 12 different times, the first time in 1968-'69, and the most recent in 1993-'94, with a high of four consecutive years (1987-'91).
Question No. 5: Bobby Richardson again (Lowell Manning twice, in 1980-'81 and 1982-'83; and Curt King in 2005).
Question No. 6: Leon White (1996-'97).
Question No. 8: Girls' Track (Leon White) and Baseball (Allen Jeter).

Well, since apparently nobody wants to try, here are the answers to the other questions:
*The four CHS players selected as All-Star football MVPs were Mike Fox (1970), Lawrence Arnold (1992), Sirl Wright (1995) and Adam Bishop (1999). Somebody help me out on Fox and Arnold because I'm not familiar with either.
*Only CHS named as head coach of an All-Star game? That would be Harry Denson in the football game way back in 1960. I know nothing about this guy either so I wish that somebody would post something. Interesting note...he was the coach of the West squad. Crossett's players now play for the East.
*Only CHS coach to be named Oustanding Boys' Tennis Coach was Mandi Cross (2004).
*CHS coaches have been named Outstanding GIRLS' Tennis Coaches three different times (Pat Sullivan, 1980; Angela Caldwell, 1994; Kim Hutchinson, 1996).

Lawrence Arnold went on to play football some at ULM(NLU at the time), he was there around the same time James Boyett was there. Lawrence was a good baseball player as well, and may have played a baseball at the next level as well, he was the same age as Bryant Nelson and was one of the top athletes of that year.

Arnold made a touchdown saving tackle on a punt return in the 1993 Arkansas/Tennessee game. Also, i am new to the site and in my wondering around found the baseball history piece and found one in need of update. the 1990 baseball team did lose to Little Rock Mills in the 2nd round, but the beat Bryant 2-1 in the first round at Jacksonville. Bryant was then ranked #2 in the state behind L.R. Mills. Brian Ray pitched 6 innings and hit a 2 run HR.
