I just want to know why player will no longer receive credits for playing? There are numerous reasons and I don't have all the details but safety of the kids is one big reason. There have been times in the past when a sport is in its offseason where kids have been left alone during last period. This has nothing to with a credit, if kids want a credit this is the perfect chance for students to get another credit in a real subject..IMO

Is this statewide or just at Crossett? And do you think our teams future performance will suffer due to this?

Is this statewide or just at Crossett? And do you think our teams future performance will suffer due to this? Most schools in the state have been doing this for years. Most Schools can't afford to hire enough coaches to have off season coaches for all sports. Performance will not suffer.

well i KNOW it will hurt the programs due to the fact that most kids have jobs that they work at after school and if the yhave to go to practice at 4 and doesnt get through til 6 or 630 so that leaves what 2 hours to work and then go home and study. I am a huge sports fan but i truley feel that if they make baseball and softball after school then they should make all extra-cariculer activities after school inculding choir, band, ROTC, football, basketball, track, etc. I just dont see how it is fair to single out these two sports due to any circumstance.

I think it was a case as Brad mentioned above as to kids being left unsupervised during 8th period class. This causes a real issue if continued to happen. By doing it the way it is now,8th period can be used for academic credit thus helping the students toward graduating as well as keeping them safe. This is at least how I understand the change.

So is the problem that we share some football and baseball coaches? and the baseball coaches go over to coach football once the season is over, leaving the baseball team unattended? just wondering if I understand correctly, if so, it kind of makes sense I guess.

Most of our coaches are hired as football coaches and coach other sports as there 2nd sport to make more money...Football is what brings revenue to the shool system. I have heard all the complaints about kids working and getting home late and losing credits. Before anyone esle gets negative about the school system, how about giving CHANGE a chance, and see what positive things will come in the future!

Okay then there shouldnt be any extra-cariculer activities during school hours then is how it should be. How can anyone justify just these two programs? It is not fair the kids that only play baseball or softball.

Okay lets give change a chance and do this the fair way and safe way by removing all of it not just the programs that a conveint to remove. No one can say that there is not times in every sports offseason that the kids are left unattened for any length of time.
