The Crossett 12's opened in district play today in Magnolia with an impressive 26-1 destruction of El Dorado. Crossett carried a 7-0 lead into the top of the 4th when the bats erupted. Crossett sent 26 batters to plate and scored 19 runs in the top half of the 4th inning. River Johnson belted a 3 run shot over the center field wall and Austin Keith pounded out a grand slam over the left field wall. The winning pitcher was Brian Ray Jr. The 12's will be in action again Sunday at 2 pm against Camden. A win puts Crossett in the championship game Monday night. My hat is off to just a super, super bunch of kids, these 12's impressed me & I had a ball working with Max on the broadcasts! Much more fun than umping! LOL Yea, I know they came up short of their goal, BUT this team is a GREAT start in the direction of getting Crossett back on the map baseball-wise. Their fundamentals and discipline was far superior than recent past all-star teams CRossett has sent forth. Reminded me many times & many ways of some of the strong tourney teams from the late 80's and early 90's when our program was known all over Arkansas & throughout most of the SouthWest Region of Babe Ruth as a force to be reckoned with. See Guys the Sun still came up today! Keep Smiling! We'll get 'em NEXT YEAR!

I just wanted to say a big thanks to Q-LITE for following these guys and broadcasting our games. To Dennis, Larry and Orlando, your support and coverage is greatly appreciated by all of the players coaches and parents. Although we came up short of our goal we were given a glimpse of what the future holds for Crossett baseball. In 2010 and 2011 these boys will be our Crossett Eagles JV team. This morning several of them enjoyed their first workout as Crossett Eagle football players. It was truly a pleasure to be one of the coaches of a great group of kids. I'll have a year to remember all the homeruns and great plays these kids made. The domination of district 2. It's sad that the season is over but it leaves a warm feeling knowing these 12 kids left it all on the field and never gave up.
