The details are a bit muddled at the moment but Coach Ledford resigned today after accepting an Asst Coaching job at Texas High in Texarkana, TX. We now have no head coach.

I just can't believe that Ledford would leave like he did. It makes me very upset that a coach of his class would leave or should I say quit without saying a word to the boys and giving them a reason for his leaving. This may be a blessing that he left!!!

They are always open to the public. Only thing not discussed publicly is personnel issues, this is all done in closed session.

Just to clarify a point, the school district does not have to post this job as open before they make a hire if they promote from within. There will be nothing to hinder replacing Coach Ledford if they promote from staff already in place. I'll go ahead and say openly that I believe there's one man for the job and he is already on staff. It's time for another Johnson to lead us.

I am in no way trying to give out a hint or anything of the sort, because as of right now I know nothing. I will say this though, I want someone who WANTS to be here, regardless of who it is.

The school board could go out and hire Bill Cower, but if he didn't want to be here, he would be dead weight. Assuming we are also down two assistants, I'd like to see who else wants to be in Crossett.

I was just told that tonight's meeting will only deal with the resignation of Coach Ledford. They aren't ready to hire the new coach until the resignation is first dealt with. They will possibly have a special meeting before the next scheduled meeting to handle the new coach hiring. Details when we know them.

They need to get a new coach in place as soon as possible. The longer they wait the more damage is done to the team.
