As a parent of current players and a longtime supporter of Crossett athletics, I just want to throw my 2 cents worth in.
Perhaps, when the rumors started back in December that Coach Ledford was being considered for the Arkansas High job, we should have opened our eyes. I spoke to a board member in December about this and he acted as if he were clueless of their interest in him.
I believe it is the Superintendent and boards job to move quickly to put a head coach in place before the 2 week dead period is complete. If you are not comfortable in naming a head coach please name an interim. The longer you wait, the more you hurt the kids who have worked their tails off in off season and spring ball. We run the risk of throwing away an entire last season for our Srs. We need a coach working now keeping these kids together. The longer you wait the harder it will be to keep them from getting discouraged.
Don't let this be a battle of personal egos or vendettas. Keep those 56 kids in mind and what is best for them and not what is best for you.

The board has no authority to act on anything until the superintendent does, so the board can only act as fast as she. Secondly, the superintendent was told by the head football coach himself up until the week he left that he was not looking for a job and you can't hire if there is no opening. You are 100% right that a lot of community people know things before the board and Janice does because people talk. The admin. can't operate based off rumor.

My beef doesn't lie with the board. From what I'm hearing now it won't be long before we know what's going to happen.

Given the position the district was put in, I'd say Mrs Warren and the board are right on top of the situation and will do the right thing for the district. My problem with the whole situation had to do with me finding out something was up almost a week before anyone in Crossett was told anything. I've got serious timeline issues. Those problems are all moot now. In a few days, we'll have a man in place and the team can move forward preparing to beat the Magnolia Panthers like they wet on the carpet.
