The board voted tonight unanimously to hire Greg Johnson as head coach and Teodis Ingram as Athletic Director.
Let the Greg Johnson Era begin.

I just want to say as a board member I am excited to have Greg. After talking to Greg this week, I really feel he is the right one for the job, he is excited, I think he has a clear vision about where he wants to go with the program. I feel his biggest obstacle will be the numbers game. They somehow have to get more kids on the field.

I hired that Anthony Phillips was transferring and Rod quit.
Not sure what the circumstance are though.

The rumor of Phillps has been floating around for two weeks that Brad Bradshaw has been openly contacting Phillips' mother to get him to transfer. If true, I hope he gets caught.

I am sure Bastrop lost several players due to the mill being shut down. I am sure that Bradshaw needs all the help he can get. Bastrop has already been stripped of one State Championship I just wonder what else will happen to them in the future. |

I was told by an ex-coach that if indeed Bradshaw recruited Phippips to La it was not a violation because it is to another state. Not sure how accurate that is though. Also heard that Phillips family has advised him against it since he is a senior, not sure how accurate that is either. I am sure the Rod that is being referred to is Rod Green! Not sure how accurate this is either, just figured that is the Rod in question.

It is a violation for any HS coach to contact any HS athlete and encourage them to move to their city and play a sport for the coach. It doesn't matter if it is across state lines or not. From the LHSSA website regarding eligibility:
UNDUE INFLUENCE
If student has been recruited to your school for athletic purposes, student will remain ineligible as long as he/she attends your school.
Somebody better tell Phillips that if Bradshaw is caught, Phillips is the one who will suffer for it.
