FYI, I hate that the scrimmage is on a Tuesday night because I CAN'T GO. And I won't be the only one. Tuesday night is an awful night for a preseason game and this will be one of the few across the entire state played on Tuesday night. Have you ever been to Nashville from Crossett? It's about a four-hour trip. That's going to dig into Crossett's fan support tremendously. Four hours on a Friday night would be bad enough but four hours on a Tuesday is basically impossible for most normal working people. You're talking about getting started at around 6 or 6:30 for this thing. Even people who have kids on the team will struggle to make that. They'd have to take an entire afternoon off just to go watch a preseason game. Another problem that I have with it is that it will not be a live preseason game but a tightly-controlled scrimmage, where one team's offense will play another's defense and then switch off again. It will take place a full 10 days before kickoff of the first regular-season game. That puts everybody at a disadvantage. The week before the first game you want to go live against somebody. This means that Crossett won't get a chance to play four full quarters until its first game a week and a half later. The whole reason that CHS began looking to play a team other than Lakeside in the preseason is because Lakeside had started wanting to play a very tightly-controlled scrimmage. This alternative is better than that one because the competition is better, but you're still dealing with a controlled environment and that's not to coach Ingram's liking (can't blame him for that either). And finally, I could accept all of that a little more graciously except that this same jamboree was held in Nashville LAST year. The only way to make this remotely fair would to have it be on a rotational basis. Having it in Nashville every year means that the Crossett and Junction City teams are the two making the biggest sacrifices in travel and lack of fan support. I guess that these things are perfectly OK with you? Or were you more interested in attacking me than finding out the facts of the situation? |

It would definitely make more sense for it to rotate between the teams. And if it were going to be in one place every year, you would think it would be down here so it would be near two teams instead of those two having to travel.
Anyway, I can't make it to that or the maroon/white game this year...in fact, the first game I'll be able to see will be the CHS vs. HHS game. And yes, I think we will be better this year than last, because of changing the offense back to the way it used to be. Not only should we score more, but our defense won't be on the field as much as last year, so maybe we can get some more stops due to being more well-rested.

Hey heath i just moved here from louisiana but i have been warned on how silly this board can get.I was also warned what i could say on here.It already looks like the people who run the board can say what they want and the people who really know whats going on cant express their feelings.I guess you are supposed to get on here and say nothing but positive things?Sometimes thats hard to do you know!My nephiew will help the team tremendously this year if coach will let him.So go on and bash me on here if that makes u feel moncho?I'm gonna tell you how things are whether you like it or not.After all arent you a photographer?  |

I'm confused...who said that you couldn't say anything? Weren't you the one who told ME to shut up, not the other way around? And if you just moved here and just started reading the board, all the more reason not to start off on the warpath. At least sit back and watch awhile. If there's one thing I'm not, it's a white-washer. Anybody who knows me should know that I'm definitely not a rah-rah guy. But this also isn't my message board. I'm sure he will. I guess by your screen name that you're talking about Tyler. He had a nice pass breakup in a practice that I saw last week. ME bash YOU? Do you honestly think that's what just happened??? I can't figure out how you come after me and then turn around accuse ME of "bashing." I'm not sure that I understand what point you're trying to make here, if you're trying to make a point at all. You didn't tell anybody "how things are." You attacked me for no particular reason. I believe that I'm the one who told YOU "how things are." I supported my statement with all of the reasons why I think what I do about the Nashville preseason game. All you really did was to tell me to shut up. And aren't you're the one who said "Stop complaining"? Or does that apply only to me and nobody else? |

I don't think any of these statements are really valid... I've never heard anyone say this board could get 'silly', nor have I seen it get 'silly' myself. I haven't noticed anybody trying to be 'thought police' or anything like that. And petesunclefred, nobody has bashed you- you may have misinterpreted something I guess, but really, I haven't seen anyone bash you. But lets get back to football talk  |

If you have a personal beef with a poster, keep it between the two of you in PM's. If you have a beef with a player or coach, keep it to yourself. I just found out about "Pete's uncle Fred". Let me assure everyone that this idiot isn't any relation of mine. This guy knows that my brother has just moved here from Minden. My brother, "Fredreaux", has just moved to town, but absolutely hasn't been on the computer. We've been kinda busy with other endeavors! You'll never hear those kind of bush league comments from anyone that I associate with. I encourage everyone to come out this year, and cheer on the Eagles! "LET 'EM HEAR YA"

Heath, I can't believe you rose to this guys bait. This is an intellectual invalid! I'm supprised he could figure out which keys made what letter on his computer! How did he manage a job where he could afford a computer? Let me tell you about my brother "Fredreaux"; he was the quarterback here in 1967, when we won the state championship, undefeated! He is tickled to death to be back in Crossett, and this type of ignorant posturing is the last thing you will ever hear from him. I know who is assuming his name on this message board, and we call him "The

Enough of all this! I know some of you have been watching practices. What you think? I've got football fever!! Ready to see some real action. I think CC Kilcrease, Allen Brooks and D. Samms have stepped up this year. CC showed some stuff in the spring scrimmage game. I look for him to have an outstanding year. Brooks and Samms amaze me that such big boys can move so fast. I hear they are hosses in the weight room too. It just seems the guys are playing more together as a team than in any recent year. I think credit has to go to all our seniors for holding it together and for stepping up as leaders this year. I know if they continue to work hard and play together as a team it will pay off with good results!

I like the way you think lol, unfortunately I haven't made it to a practice...I work in Monroe, almost every day now  I had to take off work a couple of Friday's for games I have particular interest in...boss wasn't too happy when he asked why and I said 'to watch football games' lol.. |

All I can say for certain is that the team REALLY passes the eye test. Lots of talent and athleticism. We'll have to wait and see if that will translate into wins. It takes a lot of healing to rebound from 1-9.
