Update on the CHS Eagles games played Saturday against Oak Grove and Bastrop. We lost both games.....however, I will say that most if not all players did get to play and we got to look at several Crossett pitchers. So....it appeared the games were treated as a chance to give pt to players and a chance to let several pitchers throw off the mound. Bubba Turner hit another home run. If any readers of this thread have younger players wanting to see the correct way to swing the bat.....Bubba is the one to watch. His bat speed and quick hands are a treat to see. His home runs and hits are not sky balls.....they are shots that come off the bat with tremendous power. It is early in the season and I am looking forward to what this season could bring.

Did the Eagles play Parkers Chapel yesterday? if so, did they win?
*EDIT: For those of you who may not know, the Eagles lost to Parkers Chapel (4-0) 8-4 yesterday. If I had known it was a home game, I'd have probably went. I didn't realize it was already March 5 yesterday lol.

Well hogdog, now I'm just waiting for lionsupporter to show up and reply to that comment ;D Any more up-to-date scores? Well I guess I am slipping a little, my DSL has been a little messed up lately. But back to my comment, yeah I do have one. I watched Hamburg play yesterday against Dewitt. Hamburg won 11-10. Hamburg appears to be as about as weak overall as I have seen them in the last several years. They have maybe 2-3 decent hitters, the defensive side of the ball looked average everywhere except on the mound, the pitching is weak, that is going to hurt them this year. The under classmen seem to be carrying this team. Overall, they need lots of practice. That is my assessment from my standpoint. That may change as the season progresses. Afterall, who would have ever thought Crossett would had made the championship game the way their first part of the season looked?

Oh wow, I didn't realize Hamburg was that weak in baseball this year. It seems like they have several seniors on the team, so I assumed they would be decent this year...maybe not lol.
I'm not greatly impressed with Crossett's start this season either, but hopefully we will pick up the pace and win some more games. I dunno, maybe I expect too much, the teams that have beat us don't seem to have been weak teams or anything. Parkers Chapel, for example, is undefeated.

First game - Crossett shut out Robinson 15 - 0 . I understand Crossett had a hit fest.
Second game - Crossett won 7 - 6.
Good start for conference play.

The Eagles went to Parkers Chapel this afternoon and put a solid beating on the Trojans....in their own back yard. Final score was 7 to 4. Crossett hit the ball well again...from one end of the batting order to the other. Also, Bobby Ross Bryan cranked out his 4th homerun for the year. Historically, Parkers Chapel hits the ball very well.....and Jeter put several Crossett pitchers on mound to keep PC looking a different pitchers every couple of innings. Today, Bubba Turner was the starting pitcher - good job, Tyler Huntsman - good job, Pierce Williams - good job, and then closed by Bobby Ross Bryan -good job. When you look at it.....that's one senior and three 10th graders on the mound for today's game. These hurlers as well as the ones pitching last week....seem to be working the plate pretty well and the breaking pitches are coming around. Also, only one fielding error by the Eagles that comes to mind. For seven innings against PC, and only one error, theres something to be said for that......and that would be Great Job Eagles!!! JV plays at home tomorrow (Tues. 3/13) and the next varsity conference game will be at White Hall this Thursday, March 15th. Then, Monday 3/19/07 is when Crossett plays Hamburg at home @4:00 o'clock. Make plans now to be there...it should be a good game.

I did some searching on the net and found some Pine Bluff website that reported White Hall beating the Eagles by 12-6 and 13-2.

Crossett lost the first game 11-5. They looked like they were making a lot of unnecessary mistakes also. I'll let you guys know what the score of the 2nd game is if/when I hear it.

Oh okay...it seems some Hamburgians have given me a false score, as I was told they won both games lol I would like to go to the game this afternoon, but I didn't go to work because I've been sick, so it might not be good to be seen at a baseball game. Please post the scores on here tonight, if any of you guys go. EDIT: First game of Crossett vs. Dollarway- Crossett won 6-1. I dunno about the other game though.

Crossett did win the second game against Dollarway. I don't remember the exact score. The bats finally came to life late in game. One spark I remember was a shot by Tyler Huntsman to right center field to drive in a couple of runs.
Crossett defense seems to be settling down more with each game. Keep it rolling Crossett.
